"Great software, easy to use, good display - love it!"
Pros: Um, I said most of them already, but good software, good display, good battery life, works better than expected
Cons: Crashes occasionally..
Summary: I bought this for my fiance at xmas (cause she always gets lost) and I love this thing! She actually already has a car gps, but this is great for when she's in someone elses car. Also, this is perfect for travelling! We've brought this to Kauai, Honolulu, Chicago, Los Angeles - make sure you have your maps loaded (SD card - $40 for 2GB), bring your car adapter, and plug it into your rental and you're off! I never worry about how to get places, or make sure I have maps. Last week we were in a hotel and hungry in LA - just plugged in 'Taco Bell' and was there 5 minutes later.
Another neat feature is being able to map any of your contacts. Plus you don't have to use the stylus - you just press on the screen with your fingertips to type in names and choose items, since they made the buttons big. And you can operate it while driving, which I know is supposed to be dangerous, but the car gps is annoying, because I have to stop to enter anything.
The Windows mobile works fine, pretty much as expected. My fiance loves the handwriting recognition for writing notes and emails.
A few things:
- Takes ~45s to get a signal - i hear that is typical, but I am an impatient guy.
- Crashes every so often. Actually crashes less than my Palm Tx or my old Palm Vx, but still is irritating.
- Loses signal every so often. Will gain it back in a second usually, but on occasion, have missed a turn.
Overall, a great value - I don't understand why people buy the GPS only units for $800, when this one is less than half that and you get portability and a PDA. Highly recommend it.
