"Great for beginners and for those who want to stay connected."

Pros: excellent performance, reasonable storage and ingenious transcriber input system

Cons: battery life questionable depending on your needs

Summary: I had purchased the iPAQ 2215/2210 after doing much research on here and at stores for something that will fit my needs. As a university student, I needed a PDA that kept track of my work, lecture, and reading schedules and when to meet up with groups or professors for projects and assignments. I also needed something that would work seamlessly with my Outlook to keep my contacts and email along with helping me carry and edit my documents on the go. All this while watching a tight budget.

For starters, the design was perfect for my needs and withstood the trials of my travels as I was constantly walking around campus. It was light and big enough so that it had a presence but at the same time it wasn't too bulgy. The screen was colorful, clear and responded just as I needed it to for reading, writing or viewing pictures. I personally loved the transcriber feature which worked great at times I needed to take notes down for a class quickly, update a calendar entry or even to put in a new contact. I do encourage that you have patience with it as it takes time to get used to but I feel it far surpases any block recognition feature anyday. It also has a standard headphone jack which is great for listening to music via Windows Media Player. The sound quality is excellent as I once used my iPAQ to play a premade mix on the club's system before I started to play (as I'm a club dj) and worked great.

Windows Mobile 2003 is a great operating system that has many great built in features which didn't leave me yearning for more functionality. ActiveSync allowed me to keep everything up to date and even kept a backup of everything in the odd times that I had done master resets and needed everything back like it never happened.
Bluetooth was a GREAT feature because I had purchased a Motorola v551 and would make my own ringers by taking a clip from a song, make it into an MP3, send it to my iPAQ and sent the file via Bluetooth to the phone and I have my own personalized ringers and I don't have to pay a fortune for ringtones. I even made my own wallpaper and used my iPAQ to sent the images to the phone via bluetooth from simple designs that I made on Illustrator (just make sure you get the dimensions right). Getting contacts from the phone is also quick and easy. Performance was every bit I thought it would be. I was able to play Nintendo (with the sound off) and listen to MP3s while travelling, definitely a benefit.

Lastly, expansion. I had not originally bought the iPAQ for wireless internet but after having used my iPAQ every single day and it not leaving my side when I go out, I had decided to take advantage of the wireless internet that I had at school to see if I needed it. I bought a Wireless CF Card and was surfing away. I had checked email, surfed the net, and even was on MSN while sitting and having a coffee at Second Cup (popular Canadian coffee place like starbucks) on campus. I must warn users that if they decide to go with a CF Wireless Card for internet that they should take their chargers with them because it takes a great deal of power to use.

In conclusion, despite having to watch your battery life, this iPAQ is a fully functional gadget that once you start to use on a regular basis, you're going to wonder how you did without it. Not only that, you can get a great deal of functionality from it and offer more if you become experimental. I personally loved this as a starter PDA and I highly recommend it for students on the go.
