"Defective Screen Waranty too Short"
Pros: Many different functions
Cons: Defective Screen
Summary: You expect higher quality, and a longer lasting product when you spend $300 on a PDA. I have had this product for about 112 days and the lower left corner of my screen has disappeared when the backlight is on. I can see the lower left corner when I turn off the backlight, but then it is too dark to read. I have primarily used the Calendar and MP3 player, and I have always been careful handling it, and keept it in its case when not in use. It has not suffered a great fall or been misused in any way. When I contact HP about the issue, this was their response "We regret to inform you, that HP iPAQ rx3115 is no longer covered under
warranty. The warranty period lapsed on 2005-03-15. We can still send out a
box to pick the unit in for service. However, the cost of service will be
billable to you. An HP representative will be contacting you regarding the
details of the repair cost. The cost will be approximately $207.01." Do Not Wast Your Money! Read the other poor reviews - they have had the same problem too!

I totally agree !! Had my rx3115 for 10mos and always handled it carefully, mostly for mp3's and calender - never dropped or thumped. It just froze a few days ago and no amount of soft & hard resets, trips to CompUSA's tech Mgr helped. HP tech tells me my fix will be $207+ --- yeh sure, for 10mos @ $349 plus all the proprietary ca$e$, plug$, adapter$ I've invested in this HP POS. Check reviews for all those who have owned these 3115's for some time and wind up with defective screens and frozen units BEFORE you buy one.

I received this product for Christmas and I have had nothing but problems. The screen keeps freezing. We have called the support since Jan. They rebooted it to work a week or two. Now the last time it stayed frozen. They claim that it is a new problem and that they regret to inform you, that HP iPAQ rx 3115 is no longer covered under warranty. The warranty period lapsed on 3/28/05. We can still send out a box to pick the unit in for service. However the cost of service will be billable to you. And HP representative will be contacting you regarding the details of the repair cost. The cost will be approximately $207.00. If you choose not to repair it they will bill you $85.00. If you choose not to pay they will kept the product. Do not waist you money! The other reviews claim the same problem.
