"Average GPS combined with a Lousy Pocket PC"
Pros: TomTom software is reliable once GPS finds signal. Overall size for a multifunction GPS is impressive.
Cons: Lots!!! Just not up to HP iPaq standards. CAUTION!
Summary: I waited six months of heavy use before submitting this review so I feel justified in ripping HP on this one (and I have always loved HP Pocket PCs in the past).
This device is nothing more than a mediocre GPS with a few barely reliable Pocket PC features. The GPS issues are well documented in other posts. The Windows features are what makes this device a joke. Firmware and software are both a mess. Get used to both soft and HARD resets. Active Sync reeks havoc with every version of Outlook. The touchscreen is the least sensitive one I have ever owned. The device is SLOW to execute every command. Almost all of the buttons are insensitive as well. I thought I was getting the best of both worlds @ $550.00 but got neither. As a devoted HP fan all I can say is STAY AWAY!!!

I really enjoyed working with this unit (rx5910) when I first got it. It seemed like a great PDA for me and it included the GPS which was just icing on the cake for me. However, it soon started requiring soft and hard resets to keep it going. I finally contacted HP (lack of) Support. Per their instructions, I ran all of the latest, greatest online updates for the unit. Prior to this, the only thing that functioned on the unit was the GPS. After the "fixes", not even the GPS worked. I suppose their idea of fix is to make certain nothing works? Anyway, they ran me through their painfully tedious steps to finally determine that I need to send it to them. They offered to send me an empty box to ship it to them but after it was sent, their shipping department or DHL (I can't get anyone to confirm nor accept responsibility) destroyed the box because it was empty. Hmmm... It was supposed to be empty... Going back to HP (lack of) Support, I learn I must go through the same tedious online troubleshooting with them. I'm a little too peeved right now to work with them yet again. I think they realize that they need only keep me strung along for two more months and the unit is no longer in warranty.
I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT NOR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT NEED SUPPORT FROM HP. -
I have the same feeling - HP and Microsoft should be ashamed to even call there stuff products - I thought by now they would both have cleaned up their act when I purchased this product....having given up several years ago that the PDA I bought then would ever work - if the stores in my area had carried these products and I would have tried them out before I purchased it would have been a no sale - do yourself a favor - buy a good day timer, buy the TOM-Tom GPS - and let HP and Microsoft starve!!! This is the last time I will be suckered!!!
