Description: The Palm M105 is a Palm OS-based, consumer-oriented handheld device.Compared to other consumer-oriented handhelds on the market, it is very inexpensive at around $85.
Pros: Weighing in at only 4.4 ounces, this handheld is rather light compared with most other devices.
Cons: Has only a 2-bit, 4 gray level display, which is less favorable than some similarly priced handhelds.For example, the Palm M515, a Palm OS-based handheld at around $80, has a 16-bit, 64,000-color display.Also, this handheld only has 8 MB memory.This is not out of line with the product's price, but is less than the average handheld on the market today.Though readily available, alkaline batteries must be replaced regularly and can be expensive in the long run.
Suitability: Ideal for someone who wants basic PIM functions.Also, its display, supporting 4 shades of gray at 160x160 resolution, makes it barely passable for viewing black-and-white images.
Value: In view of its very inexpensive price, this handheld has great features for the money.
Suggestions: (1) If you plan to enter large amounts of data, consider purchasing an external portable keyboard for your PDA.(2) If you plan to synchronize data and documents with Microsoft office, consider an appplication such as Documents To Go ( a basic version of it may be included in the packaged software bundle -- see merchant listings for details).
