Getting the lines straight
Except for a slightly snazzier, two-tone, gray faceplate, the m125 looks virtually identical to the entry-level Palm m100 and the m105. It has rounded edges and a small but clear, 2-inch, monochrome LCD. There's also a screen cover with a little window that reveals the time at the press of a button.
According to Palm, this model, like the other m100-series handhelds, will run for as long as two months on two AAA batteries. But that's where the similarities end. Under the hood, the m125 has the same specs as the step-up m500 and the color m505, which include a 33MHz processor, 8MB of RAM, and Palm OS 4.0. You'll notice the faster processor when playing games or searching large databases. The 8MB of RAM, used to store data and additional applications, should be plenty for most users.
Like the m500 line, the m125 has an SD card slot. If you fill up the 8MB of built-in memory, just slip a memory card into the slot on the left-hand side of the device. This model also sports Palm's Universal Connector, which works with the supplied USB HotSync cradle and a variety of add-on hardware, including a digital camera and a wireless LAN adapter. But Palm is hardly alone in providing plenty of expansion options; Handspring's Visors all sport Springboard slots, which accept an array of peripheral and memory options. Continue reading
