"Best thing was the refund"
Pros: It worked for 35 days - on & off
Cons: Unstable software, frequent resets, staticy sound, ceased to operate after a month
Summary: Palm got this one wrong. On paper it was a good package and with local discounts not too over the top price wise but the T5 proved to be unstable in operation, requiring frequent resets. Main culprit was Documents to Go but other (previously reliable) software also froze. Seems to be an OS glitch in memory handling. Sound with MP3 had a lot of background noise making it questionable.
In the end the machine just died inexplicably taking a month of set up with it. After a couple of tetchy phone calls during which I explained at least 10 times that it would not respond to any type of reset, Palm agreed to replace it (but not before offering me a reconditioned unit of unknown providence). Retailer agreed to refund it - I got the impression this was not a first.
As much as I have liked PalmOS in the past this experience has dented my confidence in them. LifeDrive looks good on paper but for the price could you risk it?
