"Worst quality GPS unit available"
Pros: Accurate when it works
Cons: Major quality issues and software lock-ups render this GPS useless
Summary: I bought this GPS in March of '07. It is now almost December '07 and I have had this unit in for service 4 or 5 times. Finally they sent me a brand new unit and this one is no better. (I checked the serial number so I know it's a different unit). Customer service is very kind and they make you feel good, but that only lasts until the unit malfunctions again. The most frequent problem is the Power button on top not working. When this occurs, there is a switch on the back of the unit to fully cycle power to the unit. When you use this, you have to recalibrate (not a useful feature while driving) the screen. Another major problem has been the unit powering up on its own and wearing down its battery. When I start up the car, and the unit sees power from the car adapter, it comes to life and "again" the screen needs to be recalibrated. This unit also intermittently but frequently locks up during simple tasks like hitting the "go home" button. And don't even think about putting in an address without first having the zip code entered. This results in a software lock up every time. In summary all I can say is that my freind only spent about 50 bucks more for his Garmin, and it doesn't have any of these problems. Neither does my dads Magellan.
