"EasyBloom Pro's and CON'S" on by Tew

Pros: I like the way it gives you a rundown of the basics that can be processed on a computer.

Cons: Depends on online database to process information.
No way to store the information on a computer so you can keep records on a plant, Lacks software that makes you independent.

Summary: While this is a hybrid of a light meter, water meter etc. , It requires that you have an internet connection wherever you use it, otherwise you will not be able to retrieve your readings. I have been burned before buying products that you assume the manufacture will be in business forever or that will not sell out to a company that will start charging money to access the online database information at a later date.

Nice if you want to save a few plants now, but let us hope in a year or 2 they will still be online !

I am amazed that if this is from the silicon valley, that software was not part of the system.

"my favorite new gardening tool" on by gardenergal

    Pros: 1. great website
    2. easy to use
    3. helps me avoid mistakes
    4. contrary to the article it works for outdoors as well. I really only do outdoor gardening. Maybe EasyBloom can change that!

Cons: 1. EasyBloom only gives soil moisture content info. I would give this a 10 out of 5 if It gave more information on soil (pH).

However "monitor" mode, told me to amend the slow draining soil my parsley was growing in and now it is flourishing!

Summary: For $60 this is the most useful tool I now have for my garden. I have only had it about a month but I suspect it will save me a lot of money over time.

It has explained that my tall spindly Butterfly Bush needed more sun; that my parsley needed soil that drained faster.

So in these economic times, I like the idea that I will kill less plants. My parsley experience has also inspired me to plant a food garden, as I have only ever done herbs with minimal success.

I love to garden and it is great to have more information to help me make sure I am doing the right things.

Given my positive experience so far, I am going to buy a few for Christmas gifts this year!

"Brilliant tool for the newbie gardner" on by tishsparr

Pros: Ease of use, loads of valuable information and plant suggestions. Another great feature is being able to purchase many of the recommended plants from their website...loved that!

Cons: At this time, there really isn't any cons that I can think of. But have just started using.

Summary: Again, ease of use is the number one thing that I love about the Easy Bloom. The second thing that I loved was the amount of information I was given. I was never sure how much sun certain areas were getting, but this dispelled any questions I had. Lastly, I love, love, love the plant recommendations AND the fact that I can purchase many of the plants from the Easy Bloom website. It was nice to see a picture that I know will work in a particular garden area and not have to find it on another website. For me, the Easy Bloom is well worth the money spent!!!!

"No Mac Support" on by Plazman

Pros: I can't use the product, I have a Mac.

Cons: NO MAC SUPPORT! The box says it supports the Mac, but you open it up and guess what? No mac support until '09.
