The Pantech Jest 2 is a simple texting phone for Verizon Wireless. It inherits the squat shape from its predecessor, the original Jest. Though mostly black on the outside, the phone also has a red stripe around its perimeter.
The Jest 2's display has a landscape orientation, which lets you see more text when typing. The screen's resolution is far from vibrant, though it's perfectly suitable for a basic, cheap phone.
The navigation array is comfortably spacious with a textured surface covering the keys at the bottom.
The individual buttons on the keyboard are raised, but the arrangement is too cramped for me. The numbered keys are marked in red and you get a few shortcut controls.
On the Jest 2's left side are the memory card slot, a voice control button, and a volume rocker.
The 2-megapixel camera has a mirror for vanity shots.
A small speaker sits next to the camera lens.
The Jest 2 has average photo quality. Most colors were muted and there's some image noise.
