rally racing is awesome
stunning interiors in premium cars
Cons A bit similar to gt4
Disappointment that i can't play 3D, because i don't have a 3DTV :(
Summary The standard cars are what is giving the game a bad review, but it is one of the most amazing, no wait, THE most amazing racing game i have ever played. Get out there and get it! ;)
Cons Menu system can be clunky at times. Watch out for the AI and Damage, they only start getting noticable at around level 20 in A-Spec mode. Most reviews it seems were unaware of this.
Summary Incredible game, and definitely a reason alone to buy a PS3 (as if there are already 100 other reasons).
What's unfair is GT5 is being reviewed against a different yardstick to all other games, and for that the reviewers should hang their heads in shame.
Pros Premium graphics
Variety, arcade, licences, Grade A & B, car deliveries, used car sales, tuning, etc etc
Cons Matchmaking and invite system
Summary whats not to like , the driving is top notch, the premium models are amazing.
enough to keep me entertained for months if not years
worth the wait
Pros Premium Car Graphics are fantastic
Depth is amazing
Driving Physics are fantastic
+1000 Cars to Choose from
Cons Non-Premium Car Graphics are poor
Tracks are bland and uninspired
Game can get boring after a couple days
Game feels dated....if it came out 2 years ago, would have been great. Not now in 4Q 2010!
Presentation/Loading is horrid
Summary When GT Prologue came out for the PS3, I was super excited for what would come with the full game. I was told when I bought Prologue, the full version would come out just months later. Glad I didn't wait on that, as the game came out over a year and half later after countless delays and broken promises.
There was a lot of hype surrounding the game due to heightened expectations; this is solely Polyphony Digital's fault. Unfortunately, GT5 could not and did not live up to the hype. First, the presentation of the game and loading experience is simply unacceptable in a game like this; having to wait 45 minutes just to play the game and then experience MORE loading screens is simply aggravating. Loading and waiting would be okay if the graphics and depth supported it, but when only 200 cars have solid detail and HD quality graphics, it seems as though we all got ripped off. Winning a car is almost laughable. You close out of the current race, get a notification that you have a new car, wait while the game loads, see the front of the car, more loading, then the game asks if you want to use the car, after waiting and more loading, it is placed in your garage. Wow, GT2 had a better reward system!!!
I kept asking myself; why was this game delayed? What did they do or add to make this a better experience? Prologue actually had a better menu and presentation system, which is embarrassing for GT5. The cars look about the same as Prologue and the track's do not look much better either. If it was delayed to add 3D, stupidity on PD's part cannot begin to describe that error in logic.
There are definitely a lot of reasons to play this game. I am a car freak and love tuning and racing cars. I have definitely enjoyed parts of GT5, but I do feel as though the leap from GT4 was not that large, especially not after the time it has taken for us to get this game. Yes, I have played Forza but I really wanted and hoped this game would blow it out of the water; it is simply not the case.
I believe that if you are looking for a challenging racing sim, GT5 will not disappoint nor will it make you jump for joy. It is a good game, just not a great game. I remember the feeling I had when I picked up GT4; excitement, amazement, and simple shock at the graphics power of a game at that time. GT4 pushed the limits of the PS2 which made it a reason to buy the system. GT5 disappoints and leaves a lot to be desired. GT5 does not push the boundaries of the PS3 like God of War III or Uncharted 2, which was a bummer for me and many other GT5 fans.
I have to tip my hat to Microsoft and the developers of Forza, they have truly knocked Sony off the top of the console battle and have possibly knocked GT5 off the top of the Racing Sim Genre, which is a big statement but true. I wish it wasn't the case, but it is hard to argue the contrary at this point.
Pros A lot of different game types
Even arcade mode is far less arcade then other racing games
Lots of tracks
Changing weather conditions and day to night to day transitions
Great special missions which are all big fun
Cons Not enough online modes, no online ranking or matchmaking.
Summary This game is worth it's money, and even the wait.
The physics are just fenomenal you realy notice the cg changing with every move you make
When tuning a car you realy feel the diffence in settings.
With a ff wheel controller it's just like real driving.
This GT version realy lives up to the name: the real driving simulation
The online options take away 10% for being perfect for me, hence the 4.5 stars.
