  • "Terrific car collection game, flawed racing sim"

Pros: Solid selection of vehicles, including some wonderful classics.
Good array of tracks, including Le Mans and the Nurburgring

Cons: Lame/nonexistent simulation of effects of damage
No penalty system for aggressive/sloppy driving
Many of the 1,000+ cars are pointless variations on a handful of unremarkable models
Long load screens follow virtually every click between races

Summary: Despite the very long wait since the previous iteration, many things in the game just seem not quite right. Lack of consequences for driving overly-aggressively or basically cheating undermine game's claim to "simulation" status - you can basically play bumper cars with walls and other cars with no penalty (& often to your advantage). Forza for the XBox does many things better. Still, it's a game worth giving a whirl - it's a joy to take your Maserati or Audi onto the Nurburgring and try to finish under 7 minutes.
