"Disappointing."
Pros: Cars look cool.
Cons: Not an improvement over San Andreas, its just a modded version GTA3 with all the same BUGS and GLITCHES
Summary: Truly disappointing. I am a die hard GTA fan. I upgraded my sound card to play GTA3, upgraded my graphics card to play san andreas and got PS3 to play GTA IV.
This is nothing more than a modded up version of GTA3. It even has some of the same missions (throwing brick through store window) and the same BUGS.
Just like GTA3 when you drive from one section of the map into another it sometimes freezes up or stutters. There is no excuse for that after these issues were resolved in San Andreas.
On top of that. My PS3 (40GB) CRASHED within a half hour after the 20 minute installation!!! I had to turn off the switch in the back of the system because the front buttons didn't work. Then it froze for more three minutes during game play TWICE!!! AND -- during the car chase mission early on in the game -- when I caught the guy and beat him up NOTHING HAPPENED!!! I was looking around for where to go for almost FIVE MINUTES. Then all of the sudden while I was walking back into the building where the guy was it went to the cut scene of the guy getting thrown out of the window!!! FIVE MINUTES AFTER I BEAT THE GUY UP!!!!!
Totally unacceptable.
I have heard stories about 360 crashing. So I waited it out and got a Falcon 360. I have never had a problem and I have played all of the hottest games without incident.
My brother is not a GTA fan -- so I hope he gets bored of his copy for 360 and lets me borrow it.

Sounds like your problem is with your hardware and not the game. Dont give a crappy review just because your mad about your hardware. Gta 4 is by far one of the best games ever made. And, for you to give it 1 1/2 stars? Totally unrealistic, and not cool!

Obviously you dont own a PS3 due to the fact that the 40gb version (which is a newer PS3 than the original 20gb and 60gb version) does not have this problem. I have an 80gb (upgraded from my 60gb for more memory) and I've played the game in blocks of at least 4-6 hours a piece and not one time has the game froze on me. The framerate issues (glitches) on 360 occur far more than that of the PS3 (which is not frequent(check IGN's review if you don't believe me)), check your facts, your emotions dont matter when it comes to logic. That 20 minute download either solidifies that you dont have a PS3 or your just highly emotional about your 360. The download is more like 10 minutes and that is a benifit because the PS3 gets less loads than 360 and far less load times when loading is needed. Once again check the logical reviews from IGN and various other game mags. And the game never stutters on either console. I'm done wasting time. You are an idiot. Enough has been said.
P.S. You really dont own a PS3 if you dont know how to turn off your PS3 without using the main switch in the back and without using the controller. You hold the power key down like you would do a PC. That shows you dont know. -
Who's PS3 crashed. I am sorry man hope you give it better reviews on the Xbox360 side, I am also a die hard fan even dated back from the top scrollers. This game is amazing, Xbox360 has been going strong. Hope you get the 360 copy soon!
