"Nexus is Fantastic, Pay no attention to Cnet Review" on by Candygirlnj19666

Pros: Records up to 25 hrs of music, or you can add MP3/WMA, Ability to add & edit playlists, Ability to FINALLY Delete unwanted songs, Lock (save) songs, Easy to Use, Lots of features

Cons: No Tuneselect, No live mode outside of home or car dock but being able to have up 25 hrs of recorded songs MORE then makes up for that!

Summary: I thought Cnet was off the mark in their review of the Samsung Nexus 25 hr portable XM satellite player. I like to save money and if it has a monochrome display rather then a color one, I could care less! You can buy this for $99 at Compusa! I would rather buy it for that cheap then spend over $250 for one with a color display that drains the battery quicker. Also, the fact this has no live mode is not as horrible as Cnet makes it out to be. That's the POINT anyway when you are carrying around a portable, the ability to listen to hours of music. Who cares if it's not live. Just simply record your fav channels in 2-3 hr blocks at night and when you wake up, voila! You got all the music you want or you can also record individual songs that are all set for you to listen to. So the fact it has no live mode makes absolutely no difference to me. This Nexus is very tiny and slick looking! If you are a gadget freak or like something that will make others jealous, this is the thing to get. It may not have a color screen like the more expensive new portables but it's pretty cool looking. Aside from the cosmetic beauty etc, The Nexus does everything that the original first generation models did NOT do, you can FINALLY erase songs you don't want and you can lock (save) songs you want to keep because like the original 2Go models, whatever you are recording will keep recording over your previous recordings. If you like having 25 hrs of music at your disposal then by all means buy the Nexus, if you are fine with only being able to record only 5 hrs with no ability to erase songs or lock songs you like then go with the Tao ($49 at Compusa) or the 2Go models. I think the Nexus is a no brainer, it does exactly what it's supposed to do and that's deliver great satellite radio along with much needed features that were missing from the first gen models. Remember aside from not having a color display, no live mode when outside of the car/home dock and no tuneselect, this is pretty much EXACTLY an INNO or Helix! It is WORTH BUYING!

    Updated
I forgot to add that Cnet says they only got 7 hrs out the Nexus but it's possible to get 10-12 hrs. Also remember to charge your battery for at least 8 hrs when you first get it.

Just to be sure. I want to use this exclusively at work to listen to music through my ear buds. I really don't want to use it to exercise etc. So if I want to use it at a desk, plugged in to an outlet, do I need any antennas, or docking stations etc in addition to what comes with the purchase?
Finally if I really become addicted to the sports part can I use it live in a car through my FM receiver with no XM receiver?
Jim G.

Thanks for the helpful review. Can you transfer songs recorded on this device over to your PC and then burn a CD? If so, I am definitely getting it.
