"Beats a laptop computer hands-down!"
Summary: When DVD drives first appeared on laptop computers, I thought all my prayers had been answered. Finally, my own in-flight movie! I never understood the little machines that ONLY played movies. Now I'm a true believer in the "one-trick pony" players, for the following reasons: 1) no need to boot up; 2) my laptop's DVD player "froze up" in the middle of movies more times than I care to remember; 3) you can connect this player to the tv in your hotel room and use the remote - just try that with your typical laptop computer!; and 4) this is so much smaller and lighter than a laptop. If you have to travel with a laptop, I can see the logic of just using that as your dvd player. Otherwise, there is no comparison. (One final note: you will need to invest in some noise-cancellation headphones to really enjoy these on an airplane - you don't realize just how loud a plane is until you try to listen to music or watch a movie while traveling.)
