Maybe mine was broken?
Pros: Design, Price
Cons: sluggish playback, VERY loud motor
And even with the headphones cranked, I can still hear the rather loud whirring and clicks of the motor as it tries to find its stride.
Again; maybe mine is broken...I'm bringing it back to Best Buy tomorrow and picking up a Panasonic

Nice Sleek Machine.
Pros: It's a SONY!
Cons: Li-Ion battery death means death of unit.
I bought it because I love my music, but would like to watch the videos as I am listenig to it.
It will handle about every format of CD & DVD media there is. However it does plainly say that it may NOT handle the recordables made on some machines. I use Sony dvd burner in my computer and Sony software to make the discs, and Sony blank media...so far no problems.
I tried a factory made Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 DVD, and the blacks were washed out. But with Star Wars: Attack of the Clones everything was gorgeous.
Biggest negatives....
Everything in box made in the Peoples Republic of China, and the Peoples Republic of Vietnam.
The output and input cables are not standard, and are NOT supplied with the unit. Sony is notorious for not including the cables with their machines, be it a TV, a dvd player, or this machine.
Like the original I-POD from Apple, the manual that comes with this unit states when the battery dies permanately so does the unit.
The docking station reeks of cheapness and the sound quality from the dock is pretty sad.
Aside from its' country of manufacture and the cheapness of the dock...I love this machine...and can't wait to play more.

Underated Daily Personal DVD Player and Just Right
Pros: Beautiful to look at and sounds great on or off the cradle and best of all not overpriced
Cons: It could be just a tad thinner. I wished it had a hardrive.
It's good and cheap. What more could you ask for......and if I drop it, I'll buy another one.
Oh my god I'm still just as delighted with this DVD player. I've notice other reviers didn't emphisize that the sound could be tweak in the units menu. It's ideal for bedtime stories and plays some kareoke DVDs, the ones that does not require a machine. You don't have to have the unit PLUGGED in while using it, so That mean DVD in the while showering, on the porch, and on the beach. I cannot wait for the next generation, and i suspect that Sony had planned that it would be the UMPC form factor but, changed their mind and released their UX series,,,,,,,but who knows. I still like this and almost every day use it like my favorite blanket.
Oh my god! I'm still just as delighted with this DVD player since I first got it. I got so many people who see it ask me where I bought it and they intented to get it. It's ideal for bedtime movies and it plays some kareoke DVDs, the ones that does not require a machine. Also menmtion that if you play your CDs it will have a PONG-like scrteen saver, very interesting...... I cannot wait for the next generation, and i suspect that Sony had planned that it would be the UMPC form factor but, changed their mind and released their UX series........but who knows. I still like this and almost every day use it and still highly recommended: like my favorite blanket.

Superb Device
Pros: Picture Quality and Price
Cons: Battery Cannot be Replaced
Overall, bravo.
I purchased the devide at Best Buy for cheaper than any other place I could find online. It also came with free noise-canceling headsets ($50) and an additional carrying case ($20). Really could not beat the price.

Excellent, well built product.
Pros: solid build quality, dual headphone jacks, one-piece tablet
Cons: Exposed screen, no lanyard
The Sony D-VE7000S is a very nicely built device that will be appreciated by those who like a quality-feel to their electronic equipment. I've only had this device for 48 hours and therefore do not have any long-term data yet. However, what attracted me to this device was precisely the one-piece tablet construction as well as the solid feel of the device itself. One of the reasons that I had deferred purchasing a portable DVD player in the past was the fact that all previous portable DVD players I had seen on the market were quite flimsy in construction with their typical screen-lids being prone to breakage and wobble after some usage. The Sony D-VE7000S remedies all that with the solid one-piece construction. I find it amusing that a previous reviewer was critical of the left-sided placement of the duel earphone jacks (causing the earphone cords to cross in front of the screen in order to reach a second viewer seated to the right of the unit.) The gentleman/woman is evidently spatially challenged as the obvious solution is simply to have the second viewer sitting to the left of the one holding the device. Another reviewer disliked the built-in battery, but this is actually an advantage in that the battery cannot get lost and is not easily damaged. Recharging is fast and easy using either the speaker docking cradle or the AC adapter. In addition, I believe (but am not yet certain) that the device can be powered directly from the AC adapter if the battery runs down. The absence of built-in speakers is not a negative point at all but rather an intelligent design item that allows for a better build in the main unit itself, leaving the speakers in the docking cradle. This allows for much better sound quality and stereo effect from the speakers in the docking cradle, being wider apart than would have been possible if they were in the unit itself and allows the viewer to take full advantage of the sound equalizer which can be set for various sound modes. In any case, it is rare that more than two people ever effectively crowd around a portable DVD player anyway, and those two people each have their own separate earphone jacks. Not a problem, but rather a plus, in my opinion. I found picture quality to be excellent while viewing "Saving Private Ryan" with great detail during the Normandy Beach Landing scene. The sound quality was excellent from both the earphones as well as the docking cradle speakers. The only criticism I have so far is that the main unit does not seem to seat firmly on the contacts of the docking cradle, there being a little "wobble" in the coupling, but this is a minor point that may be improved with any subsequent generation of the D-VE7000S, should there be one. I would highly recommend the separate purchase of a high quality carrying case as the one supplied with the D-VE7000S is too thin to provide any significant protection from dropping and has no storage compartments for accessories. I also purchased a screen protector intended for a laptop computer and cut it to size to fit the D-VE7000S's screen in order to protect the high quality LCD screen from scratching. All in all, the D-VE7000S appears to be an excellent product from Sony. Highly recommended.
P.S. The other issue that is a negative is the lack of a lanyard or strap to secure the unit to the hand. One drop onto a hard surface could cause some serious damage. Therefore, I would recommend using this DVD player only while seated at a table or while reclining on a sofa or bed.

Great for commuters!
Pros: Great value; solid construction; portability; unique concept
Cons: No owner-replaceable battery
A few things I did not like: the lack of an owner-replaceable battery (so if the battery runs down when you are traveling you have no option to swap batteries); low audio volume; and extremely poor quality font display on the setup menus. But I think it is still a fantastic value for its price and unique features. I have been using this player every day since I bought it.
