"Unreliable performance"
Pros: Decent battery life
Cons: Finicky disc recognition
Summary: I've owned this device for almost two years. As an early adopter, I paid a real premium ($300) for what I thought would be a premium product as I own (and have owned) many other Toshiba electronics. After just more than a year, the player refused to reliably recognize major studio (not DVD-R) DVDs. Typically, the disc is inserted, much hunting and seeking happens accompanied with noisy sounds and then...a blue screen. If you keep trying (remove, reinsert the DVD, push a few menu buttons, etc.), sometimes it will play - and once it's going, it's a fine but unremarkable player. No wonder it's been available as refurbs - many replacements, I guess. We now have an inexpensive portable DVD player with a better screen, better sound and reliable performance - at $120. Pass on this one.
