"This product fried my ipod!!!!!!!!" on by yogini8

Pros: Nothing positive to say I'm afraid.

    Cons: It fried my ipod.

Summary: I received this product as a Christmas gift. After following all of the directions, I placed my ipod in it and it immediately made a very sad face and died. We contacted the company over a month ago and so far have received the run around. It's not looking too good for a successful resolution. Beware!

"Product failed after less than one year" on by p0nderful

Pros: Great sound, easy to use

Cons: It stopped playing ipods after 6 months. I purchased at a charitable auction, so I have no receipt.

Summary: No matter how good it sounds, it does me no good if it doesnt work properly.

"It fried my iPod too" on by jpr11011

    Pros: None at all
Unless you want a hot, fried iPod

Cons: My mom and I's iPods both got totally fried by this product.

Summary: My mom's a teacher and got this product as a gift for her classroom. I had repaired a broken iPod Nano I had bought on eBay for her (took over 5 hours too). She plugged in the Nano and it didn't work. I figured I made an error fixing the iPod, and loaned her my iPod (which was also my baby...one of my most prized possessions) for the day while I figured out what I did. My iPod didn't work on it either. It turned out the stupid damn thing was rapidly discharging the iPod. Battery went from 100% to 0% instantly. It is a miracle it didn't combust in a classroom with nearby tissue paper crafts and about 20 6-year-olds. Unfortunately both iPods got really hot due to being rapidly discharged. My iPod was never the same, and got worse and worse until it failed a few months later. The Nano was very severely damaged, but limped along for a few months before it failed shortly after mine did. What a waste....

Altec Lansing took zero responsibility for this. The guy we spoke to just gave us another one and said "Yeah, some of them don't work."

The worst part is my mom almost put her iPhone on it. That would've almost certainly combusted.

This product has a tendency to fry iPods, and is also a fire risk. Do not buy this! It is no coincidence that Apple carries every major iHome brand EXCEPT Altec Lansing in their inventory!

"The hedgehog of speakers" on by Florida Panther

Pros: Good sound, compact, easy to use

Cons: No remote - if that matters

Summary: "The fox knows all things; the hedgehog knows only one - but he knows it well."
This the hedgehog of speakers - it does one thing very well. My wife wanted dinner music on the lanai - with no wires. This product does it beautifully and has pretty good sound.
No remote, but I'd probably lose it anyway.
