"Go and Listen to the Hi-fi!!!!" on by whiskeydesign

Pros: The Sound is rich, full, and amazingly loud! Quality craftmanship, you can feel and hear, and sleek design.

Cons: Does not come with optical or anolog cables, no travel bag or strap, and does not have airport express built-in.

Summary: At my local Apple store I was able to drown out the stores music, crowd noise, and still clearly make out the ColdPlay song, I'm not the biggest coldplay fan but it made me want to purchase one. As I waited in the casher line at the Apple Store, many stood listening to the Hi-Fi, some others went about the many ipod cases and accessories, most where being assisted by the employee's. Then they lined behind me, as employees were quickly going to the back and coming out with multiple box's of Hi-Fi's which were placed behind the register with the peoples other Apple gadgets.
In the quiet confines of my Home the Hi-Fi produces amazing sound quality. I own high end loudspeakers and amp of significant weight, power, and better sound quality then the Hi-Fi but they are not very practical. They don't work in my bedroom, home office, kitchen... (better half would kill me if they were in either rooms). The Hi-Fi is the best at what it is, an all in one quality speaker system for the ipod.
Since I'm listening to the Hi-fi I want one more for the house and attach both of them to airport expresses so I can go bedroom to office and enjoy music, but still have the ability to through my ipod on one and just listen to what I feel like .

A helpful review I have found so far was http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/comments/ipod-hi-fi-high-fidelity-speaker-system-for-ipod/

Go and check the hi-fi out first hand, I have a feeling you will dig them as much a I do.

"Very impressive sound quality, like the simple design" on by hayes_philip

    Pros: Excellent sound quality

Cons: No USB pass through to an airtunes adapter

Summary: Unpacked my HiFi yesterday and have been very impressed by the sound quality. It's absolutely ideal for a large room where you don't want cables etc. all over the place.
One thing I would have liked to have seen was a USB connector so that the remote could control itunes via an airtunes adapter.
P.S there has been some amazing amount of crap written recently about how terrible this device is.

"Please listen before judging!" on by UnrealTard

Pros: Clean, powerful sound, nice imaging, battery capability.

Cons: Heavy for transporting regularily, remote not fully integrated.

Summary: For those of you "reviewing" the Apple iPod Hi-Fi without actually hearing it, I suggest you listen to it rather than judge from your keyboard. It's an audio device for crying out loud. Ok, enough of the rant.

I have it in my office and really appreciate the overall sound quality of the unit. Is it audiophile quality? No. However, it is wonderfully clean, powerful and images very well for such a compact unit. I have very nice audio equipment in my home and wouldn't dream of comparing it to truly hi-end systems. However, I'm extremely pleased with the overall sound quality. In my mind, well worth the price when compared to other similarly positioned systems in the market. I also like the battery option as it will travel on occasion to locations without AC access. I wouldn't want to carry it around all the time but an occasional foray into the wilderness will work.

I really only have two gripes. First, I own a Gen4 iPod so I don't get the treble/bass adjustability that is embedded in the Gen5 iPods my wife and son have. However, the equalizer controls on my Gen4 seem to work nicely with the unit. Secondly, it would be nice to have a fully functional remote that would truly mirror all the click wheel operations of the iPod. The limited controls on the supplied remote don't quite cut it.

Listen and decide for yourself. My office mates are very impressed as am I.

"This is much better than the competition. Kim's ears are clogged." on by grooves

Pros: The first iPod audio peripheral that actually sounds like a decent audio system

Cons: The bulk. But you want bass? There are no "magic" solutions

Summary: For $50 more than Bose's mediocre sounding MusicDoc you get a slice of genuine audiophile sound. This piece has lithe, reasonably deep and tight bass, smooth mids and extended highs, but more than lows, mids and highs, it actually integrates the three into a musical experience that exists outside the bounds of the box, creating a musically seamless whole. The iPod Hi-Fi played louder without strain and has far greater dynamic range than any of the competiton. It's bargain priced. Mr. Kim's comments indicate to me that he is clueless about good sound if he thinks this piece is only "marginally" better sounding than the shrill, boxy, bassless competition. I'd like him to name names, when he says it's only marginally better. Do yourself a favor and go listen for yourself. This piece was designed by an experienced audiophile designer and you can hear it, if you care to listen. If you don't hear the difference stick with the shrill junk that is most of what's out there....

    "great sound" on by artgoi

    Pros: a great sound system

    Cons: not portable

Summary: i think that something a LOT of people dont see is that the handles arent there for portability. they are there because it is so heavy! otherwise it would be very difficult to lift and carry! apart from that, it sounds awesome, but its nifty price doesnt make it worth buying. it MIGHT be the best sounding, but other options are enough for most.
