Pros Superb sound from a single speaker unit
Cons Build quality could be better
Summary First impressions out of the box...the unit could be better constructed. The lip that holds the Ipod could be sturdier.
Set it up on a desktop, dropped my 60GB Ipod Photo into the cradle and was amazed at the sound reproduction. Bose have done an outstanding job!
Thought that the cheaper units would probably not be too far away in sound quality. So I bought the i-Station...to leave in work for when I was working in the evenings. Well...
The sound doesn't even come close to the Bose unit. It is like comparing the sound of a F1 car to a compact car.
Yes the Bose unit is expensive.
Yes the Bose unit is not portable.
Yes the Bose unit is built only for the ipod (btw it works with all the units including the 60GB photo...only the shuffle misses out).
Yes the Bose unit isn't the most sturdy product.
BUT...and it is a BIG BIG BUT...
The Bose speaker is the best sounding unit on the market...if in doubt...go and listen to the sound in the shop and take in any of the competitors to compare...if you have the money...you'll walk out with the Bose under your arm!
Pros Bose quality, exceptional sound.
Cons High price for great quality
Summary From the first song, the SoundDock was plain unbelievable. All the subtleties of the music are revealed. Even though it is in one piece, it separates the stereo sound. It has enough power to play at any party, or fill up your house. Just don't think about the price, and go buy it. You'll have it forever, and you'll be glad you do.
Pros Supercharges your iPod
Cons are there any?
Summary nothing is better than this for playing music in rooms
Pros Spectacular clarity in sound
Cons design - wish the power cord was permanent
Summary I have other Bose products and love their sound so when it came to my iPod, I wanted the best and knew Bose would deliver. Despite some negative reviews, I purchased the Series II anyway and loved it as soon as I plugged it in. I bought it in January and it worked fine until one day in late April whenI went to plug it in and could get no power. I tried several outlets and finally called Bose to troubleshoot. My customer service rep was helpful and finally suggested I return it for repair as it was still under warranty. Though I was told it might be 3 weeks to get it back, I had it back within a week. Problem was, it still didn't work when I got it back. I called again; spoke with Nick and was prepared to do battle, but it was not necessary. He apologized, asked me to send it back again (with all accessories) and informed me that they would ship me a new one as soon as they got mine back. He said they wanted to keep happy customers, stood behind their product and they weren't going to keep messing with the defective unit. I never had to explain more than the fact that I was still in possession of a defective product. In my email the next day was a link to print a return shippping label at the expense of Bose, which I promptly used and took the product to the nearest UPS store late that afternoon. The next morning I received an email from Bose informing me that my new Sounddock was on its way! Once Bose knew I had returned mine via UPS, they immediately shipped me another one. I received it in 4 days and it works beautifully. I would have to say that's the way a consumer/customer SHOULD be treated.
I did have to pay to ship the first one back but that was my only cost. I suspected that possibly the adapter cord or the fitting for it was the problem, but I am still not not sure. When I returned my unit the first time I was instructed not to send anything other than the actual unit. When it came back and still didn't work and I experienced the exact same problem as before I shipped it to them, I thought I had good reason to believe something must be amiss with the power cord/adapter. That's also why I thought I was going to have to fight with Bose for my right to get a new unit, especially since they returned it telling me it had been tested and found to be in working order. Instead, once I had Nick on the phone, he couldn't have been more accommodating and willing to make me a happy Bose customer. This was the first and only time I have ever had an issue with a Bose product and I can't say that they did anything but try to make me happy. They stood behind their product and honored their warranty and I just want others to know that this is the case. I had originally read a review where someone said their unit stopped working 45 days after they received it as a gift. They advised that nobody should buy one of these because of how quickly theirs stopped working, but they must not have dealt with Bose directly on the issue. In their defense, Bose can't fix what they don't know is broken.
I would recommend buying this product from Bose and am happy with the sound that it brings into my room. I have a good ear for clarity and am still convinced that Bose is the best. When I listen to music, I want to hear every sound the artist intended me to hear and Bose gives me that. I have also hooked it up to my laptop to watch DVDs and it is awesome! I don't have the portable one because the price was too much for the advantage of using batteries, but the Series II is lightweight and easily portable anywhere in my house as long as I have an electrical outlet. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? You bet!!!
Pros great sound
Cons no batttery power no remote storage
Summary i bought it, it is a great speaker system for the ipod but the lack of place to store the remote could lead to it being lost and it is not mobile (can`t work it with batteries
