Pros Great sound quality for a very small unit. Amazing amount of BASS from such a tiny thing! High quality feel and great design!
Cons Cost is inhibitive for some. However I would argue that some of its competitors in the $99-$149 range are NOT worth it and irrelevant after listening to the sound quality from the Bose Mini.
Summary First of all, let me be clear. I am no fanboy of BOSE simply because most of their products look great but sound mediocre. In the past, Bose seemed to look past the rest of the playing field when it came to sound quality. While one would see a Bose product and say WOW.. after hearing the product, my reaction was a disappointing MEH. Well with this Mini Bose, I can finally say I LIKE a Bose product.
The tiny footprint is great for those with limited counter space and don't want to have a giant unit taking up space. I have experienced lots of different speaker products, high end, low end and everything in between. My current favorite audio company is GoldenEar Technology, check em out and you'll hear why.
One thing you should understand with this Bose Mini product is that its range of clarity is probably no more than 10 Feet. That means that outside of one room, the sound starts to sound muddy and unimpressive. This product is meant to be enjoyed in close proximity and is definitely room filling, but one room only. Loudness is not an issue but seriously, you shouldn't be listening for the loudness of a product.
Bluetooth connection is excellent with the Bose Mini. I experienced ZERO connection problems or lag once I connected an iPad with it. And a big plus is that it remembers your iPad. You turn the unit on and it immediately and automatically hooks up with the iPad. The volume can be controlled within the Bose unit or the iPad so its very convenient.
Lastly, the bass is quiet amazing with this product. Granted it has no real bass speaker, it does deliver very good depth of sound. Most other portable blue tooth speakers sound like alarm clock radios to me, so this was quite a surprise. The bass is probably the reason I would justify the cost of this product.
When in doubt, go listen to it at your local Best Buy. They have several other devices there at lower and higher price points, so you can hear what you are spending your money on.
Great job Bose on the design and sound quality of this product, now everyone else making blue tooth speakers need to step their game up!
Pros Sound is fantastic. Actually has decent bass for such a small size. The charging dock and charging cable is well designed. Very solid quality feel.
Cons No mic for speaker phone.
Summary I ordered my Bose SoundLink Mini right after I read the review on CNET. Boy did they ever get the review right! First off, I read the CNET review and didn't watch the video so I was completely thrown off when it arrived on how small this speaker is. Don't let the size deter you though, the sound this unit produces is really in a league of its own (including good Bass!) at high volume levels. The volume is plenty loud in any room in my house. The design and build quality is truly first class with the aluminum housing and the disappearing charging dock. It's expensive yes but I truly believe the Bose SoundLink Mini has tremendous value and the sound chops to back up that price. Still reading? Stop now and go order one. You won't be disappointed.
Pros Sound, design and portability.
Cons Price for some, but this is only Bluetooth speaker I own.
Pros Sound quality, Volume, Build quality.
Cons No speaker phone. Overpriced accessories - $25 color sleeve and $45 carry case.
Summary Love to listen to it with my tablet.
Not enough selection of accessories (carrying cases, covers)
Summary This product is great, got on Christmas of 2013, and havent stopped listening since. This little speaker has the sound of a stereo and the bass that can compete with all other top of the line products
