Pros Excellent sound, Looks awesome and is very sturdy. Remote works from other rooms. My friends couldn't believe how great it sounded. It definitely won't fall off of your counter or table. In a 2000 sq. ft. house, I can play this baby and hear it on the op
Cons For those who plan on taking it to the beach or somewhere where batteries are needed, the sound quality will suffer. It may seem heavy to others also. (It's too pretty to take anywhere where batteries are needed).
Summary This futuristic looking machine, Harman's Go + Play, looks like something you'd see on the "Jetsons" cartoon show. I bought it brand new off Amazon over two years ago for under $200. I previously owned a JBL Radial Loudspeaker (docking station quit working and it wasn't nearly as sturdy or powerful) and a Bose Portable Sounddock (I'd rate it below the JBL in sound quality). The Go + Play blows them both away easily. The bass is so much more powerful and the mids and highs are perfect IMO. It's very sturdy and definitely won't fall off of your table/counter even at full blast. I've had zero problems with it. I'm guessing the new Bose Sounddock 10 probably could compete with the Go + Play but it costs $300 more.
Pros Tight clean bass. Well balanced mid-highs. Very loud and low distortion for its size.
New units are compatible with newer iPods for charging.
Excellent remote control.
Cons Needs a bucket full of D cells to be truly portable.
Performance drops off when running battery only as it appears to limit the current flow to the bass units when not connected to wall power.
Summary Best sounding iPod speaker dock at a reasonable price.
First one cost ~$350. Latest one was $219 at Costco.
The newer Go +Play Micro doesn't compare in sound quality and volume. I bought one of the Micros for my daughter.
Pros If you like great sound this unit can not be beat. It can fill 3 large rooms with rich sound. I Touch compatible GREAT Bass with no distortion. High are very CRISP. I bought for$ 200. . The remote works well and this unit is compact
Cons Batteries are Standard D cell(8) so its heavy with them in. A rechargable Lithium in the unit would be worth $50-80. The I Touch does not sit flat ( a little bit to big for the indented well). An optical audio in would be usefull instaed of plug
Summary If you listen to this Unit with your favorite music at a 200-250 price range there is nothing on the market that I have found that is even close(the top of line Bose $650 is a little better but not woth an extra $400)
Pros +Good sound balance
+Bass has great thump, and is really tight, not boomy at all.
+Remote control works at 30 feet , works on radio tech. so you dont have to actually piont it towards the device
+The mids and the highs both are equally good
Cons +Well for a system like this there is not much to say about as a con but placement of ipod is quite awkward which some people might think but for me it keeps ur device more safe.
+ At max volume its a bit distorted which is not noticable much
Summary Getting a demo of this device is much much better than any review. I actually personally had compared it with BOSE series II sound dock and believe me Bose was nowhere near. Being a Bose lover its really painful to say this but the truth is truth. If you want this much quality you actually have to upgrade to Bose sound dock 10 which costs you around Rs.42,000 and this sys costs you Rs. 20,000 which is way more cheaper than bose but yes at some point of time its too much for a dock but mind it its worth every penny you spend on harmon kardon. The inbuilt amplifier is really gud, you can actually join any MP3 player DVD player , any thing via aux in and can get the same output as the ipod. This is wat really matters when it comes to connectivity. Its design is also good. One thing which is also very exciting about this system is the RF remote, can work across the walls too till 30 feet distance which can come handy in many situations. Also i compared it with music systems of sony only to compare the sound output and the bass which they gave was very boomy, was not tight at all. So all in all this system is a beauty at looks and beast at the output.
Pros It worked for a couple of months. Looks nice sounds terrible! I really can't think of any pros.
Cons I had this product for a year. I used it approximately 20 times for weddings. speaker blew in no time. After it is out of warantee, they will not repair it. When I asked what I should do with it, they hung up on me.
Summary Bottom Line - I would never purchase a product from Harman Kardon again. Their products are over priced and do not work. You can not get it repaired. Their customer service is way under parr. All in all it is a bad product with terrible customer service. This is supposed to be a very good product with big heavy speakers with large magnets to make the sound bit and rich. So..... why does the speaker blow when I have only had it a couple of months. I was using this product to play music for weddings. I am NOT a teenager playing loud, obnoxious music. I am playing steel pan music, for crying out loud. If this product cannot handle a few weddings, it is definitely not going to handle regular use. Then, to try to explain this to a customer service gentleman, and to be hung up on. This company does not care about their customers, obviously. I woiuld never purchase another product from Harman Kardon. That is for sure!
