  • "Looks great, but its not the original & AWESOME Go+Play"

Pros: It looks great and I like that it finally has space for my iPhone.
Though the original remote was great looking it WAS NOT durable. In fact it was far from that and I ended up going through 3 of them!

This remote looks more A LOT more durable

Cons: The sound of the original was INCREDIBLE. "If it ain't broke don't fix it"... why did they change the speakers in this? As stated in the review, this no longer sounds as good as the original.
WHY?? IT was AWESOME!!! Why change it???

Summary: So more on the sound. Like I said, the original will blow any sound dock at this price out of the water (Bose... NOT EVEN CLOSE).

It seems to me that the 5 drivers (speakers) don't mesh as well as the original Go+Play. This device now has 5 drivers: contrary to what this guys says in the video, it's not 2 tweeters on each side (4) and one woofer on the bottom, it's a small midrange and tweeter on each side and a woofer on the bottom.

The original design just had a *larger* midrange/woofer on each side and a tweeter on each side coupled with an enclosure that must have had the supposed wiz kids at Bose scratching their heads and wanting to scrap their alleged "years of research". This thing (the original had) *refined* bass in spaids and crystal clear quality highs.

From Nora Jones to Lil' Wayne & Rick Ross when placed close to a wall or corner, this baby was absolutely THUNDEROUS without the bass becoming overpowering (the bass gets incredibly deep for something this size) in the right room (most often any medium size room with 4 walls). Further more, it was NOT missing mid-range at all like so many other docks with boomy bass. All around it sounded incredible which is why I still own it despite the fact that I've really beat it up (it IS indeed truly rugged despite it's elegant looks).

In my experience, trying to squeeze a completely separate woofer, dedicated to bass, into such a small enclosure actually calls for very boomy, loose and unbalanced bass. The original relied more on it's enclosure (similar to what Bose ***tries*** to do) to produce solid bass and the result spoke for itself, literally. I don't understand why Harmon Kardon messed with a design that was so positively reviewed.

I'd also like to address the part about this new version (2.0) not being loud enough (as the guy in the video review stated). I totally believe him, which why I'm SO disappointed. The last version was VERY loud!!! I used this thing to party ALL THE TIME. I tailgate with this thing... PENN STATE STYLE... that means LOUD!
The last version ROCKED, the fact that this isn't loud is very disappointing.

My bottom line is this. I waited and waited for Harmon Kardon to make this thing more iPhone compatible and I'm very disappointed to learn that they didn't just adjust the size of the opening in the top and leave what was an incredible stereo alone!
