"Not sure what is up - but sound quality is terrible" on by seanltd
Pros: small, easy to use.
Cons: sound quality is awful. No idea why. im' not being a stickler, it sounds clock radio bad.
Summary: for whatever reason, out of the box the speakers sounded funny. did some research, disabled the Wi Fi on my iTouch, thought my Mp3s were maybe recorded funny/too hot. Not sure. The end result however is that this sound quality is awful. Bad low-end distortiion, and the highs are also "fuzzy" or "hot" sounding...this is all at low levels of volume btw. very, very surprised as i'm a JBL fan for sure. wouild definitely trust JBL. and this is probably my fault for not walking back into Target with this devvice. I'm not going to risk it again though - it's Altec Lansing/Klipsch from now on for docks.

"Excellent speakers, sound quality, portable use" on by bhkk2009
Pros: Excellent sound quality, very crisp and clear sound with enough bass. Speakers can play loudly and don't get distorted. Very durable, small, and portable. Takes 4 normal AAA batteries or can be plugged in. Simple design. Awesome piece of technology.
Cons: Nothing...maybe it could have used an FM radio and buttons for adjusting treble and bass, but it's not necessary. The only thing you might complain about is the difficulty prying out the used 4 AAA batteries. (I use a small screw driver).
Summary: Overall these speakers are excellent, providing great sound quality, simple design, very compact for portable use, runs on 4 AAA batteries or can be plugged in.
I really have put these speakers to good use in the 4 years I've owned them. These speakers function as my computer speakers as well as taking them on the go. They have traveled with me around the world and on dirty hiking adventures and camping trips. After so much rugged use of these speakers, the ipod dock has become loose on my speakers. This was probably caused by the ipod continuously wiggling around on the dock while moving/carrying the speakers around. I no longer use my ipod dock, but it is no problem since there is also an audio input jack. Now I just connect my ipod using the short audio cable that was provided.
The speakers have a battery indicator light that starts off green and eventually turns to red. Interestingly, when the battery dies, my speaker starts farting. It's pretty funny. I really like that these speakers take normal AAA batteries rather than having rechargeables. I can keep playing them unless I run out of AAA batteries. I now have two sets of 4 AAA rechargeable batteries that I use just for these speakers. I recommend Eneloop rechargeable batteries by Sanyo for anything.
The best things I like about this speaker is its excellent sound quality, and easy/compact portability. It's a winning combination. -
"ruined by one dumb design feature" on by ianto39
Pros: small, nice sound, battery or AC powered
Cons: no audio out
Summary: I returned mine after discovering from JBL tech support that the "audio out" jack is not for using the device with an external amp/tuner, it's only for chaining to another micro on-stage so only puts out a very low signal, i.e. pushing in a stereo jack doesn't cut the speakers off and divert signal to your amp which for some crazy reason seemed to me like the obvious thing for it to do. otherwise, it is a very nice product, it sounds good and is loud enough for vacation use and the remote control works with the iPod Touch
