A lot of people know about the Jawbone Jambox, but few know that Soundmatters, which makes the FoxLv2 speaker, provides the driver technology for the Jambox.

At CES, the company will be showing off a very slim Bluetooth speaker -- or mini sound bar, as the company describes it -- the FoxL Dash 7.

It comes in three different colors, lists for $249, and should be available late in January. If you preorder it, Soundmatters is offering a $30 discount, bringing the price down to $219. That's still a bit steep, but if past products are any indication, the FoxL Dash 7 should sound very good for its size.

According to Soundmatters, the speaker will be very portable at a mere 7.1 ounces and only .75 inch tall, so it can be put under a tablet. The Dash 7 can be "aimed up for omnidirectional sound or direct-aimed using the included stand/travel case" and has an output so it can be used with the FoxLo subwoofer (optional). Its built-in noise-canceling microphone supports a speakerphone function. Other key specs are a "proprietary dual passive radiator system" with extended-range wireless stereo Bluetooth and and Aux-in, and a "Bass-Battery [that] provides extended bass for up to 12 hours."

I'll add better photos and offer up my impressions once I get some ears-on time with the Dash 7 in Las Vegas next week.

The speaker comes with a carrying case that folds into a stand.
