I've had one of these for about 2 years. I purchased it because I wanted to watch TV in the kitchen, and there was no chance of getting a cable there.
The base station is connected directly to my cable on a splitter (no cable box), and the picture quality is excellent. Depending on the topology, the signal can be lost if, for example, too many doors and/or people come between the base station and the TV. You may find that the range is less than advertised, but once satisfactorily set up, the system has worked just fine. Setup was not difficult.
When I bought my system , it was only available at list price, and if it hadn't been masquerading as a gift to my spouse, I wouldn't have bought it. Many friends and neighbors covet it until I mention the price.
One unexpected plus of this device is that it's so compact and lightweight that I carry it from my winter place in Florida to my summer one in New Jersey in a small tote bag.
I briefly tried the internet connection feature, which worked fine, but not as well as my laptop, so why bother?
If you have a special need that is satisfied by a device like this, go for it.
