"Great but could have been better"
Pros: Very affordable, great quality for what you get
Cons: Screen res, One size fits all?
Summary: First, last I checked it was the good old QVGA resolution, not 480x272 as the main review suggests (although I would be happy with the latter) Though the screen should be the same great 16 million colors as always. It's a great price point competing with the Clix, but Archos needs something in the low-end Harddrive market like the preceding 404 was in. Hopefully there's a 505 planned to fill the gap.

To me, having a sizable unit like the 405 is begging for a hard drive. The 2Gb internal is a bit too small. I have a 404, and the 30Gb is good for my needs. With all of my music copied to the device, I still have some room for various 700Mb movies.
I wanted to get a new player for my sister, but I may lean toward the older 404 (if I can find it), as I think that 2Gb is inadequate.

Archos 405 (2GB):
