• "Does a lot more a lot better than your average box"
on by mogwhy

Pros smooth video, excellent sound including VBRMP3

Cons a little larger and heavier than some but you cant have your cake and not eat it

Summary When you first open the box its layed out neatly and well packaged. The maual isa bit long winded and i just observed the basics got it charged and got on with it. With the supplied kit you can copy any! dvd staight from the svhs socket on the back of the dvd player and choose what quality to record at. In high quality its like the best rips you get in divx movies, in the worst quality still on par with your average vcr. I must admit i dont really use it as music player much but its nice than you can copy with variable bit rate option so the quality stays high. The only thing i dont like is the naff headphones which i binned and bought some Bose triports which are brill but thats another story and another review!lol.
If you want a video recorder and music player/recorder look no further. The screen is big and good enough to enjoy and if it is not to your liking you can plug your arcos into the telly anyway and watch it full size!
Would i recommend it? Sure 100%

• "Good player, a little heavy but it does it all."
on by MAC622

Pros Solid, easy to use, Video when you want it

Cons Heavy, Toggle not working before 12 months used

Summary Don't get me wrong I like the AV320 a lot.
I've used it to watch movies and they look great. Right now its loaded with 18 gig of music and the mp3 functions are top notch. Sound is great and you can customize it if you have too.
Easy to navigate... until the toggle stopped working. It no longer toggles down or to the right. I can't even get into SETUP.
A call to ARCHOS informed me that I wasn't under warranty since I bought it on EBAY through a 3rd person. They would charge $125 to fix it. I joined an ARCHOS user group on YAHOO and some helpful person (who had the same problem) informed me that I can get full control back by using the supplied DVR100 Video attachment with the remote (normally used for when you put Video on the unit). I now have control of the unit again. Of course with the DVR on it, it gets even bigger.
That's my only real beef. The Toggle crapping out and the weight.
I was going to get a smaller unit anyway so believe it or not, I'm looking at an ARCHOs GMINI XS200.
I'll load up the AVR320 with video.
I think for the most part ARCHOS makes good stuff.
They can't help it if their French.

• "I like this product; not just for techies"
on by Daniel Orbach

Pros Does everything; plays movies, music, and looks flashy

Cons not many, may be a little o ig for those with small hands althogh i dont experiance this problem.

Summary Great product, very durable i accidentally dropped it once and nothing hapend, its just like taking a chunck out of a computer you can carry with you, makes ipods look like junk.

• "Dont waste your money on ARCHOS"
on by acemall

Pros Hmm, cant think of any.

Cons Everything. I have returned two Archos units because the display didn't work any more.

Summary I would have given this a zero if I could have. Archos is absolutely pathetic. I had to return two different units because the monitor quick working on one after about 9 months, and the other just quick working. I never dropped either of them. I always took great care of each. Bery poor crafstmanship.

I am going to buy an IPOD today. They seem to rate better.

• "DO NOT GET!! Read this first..."
on by XPimpedOutGamerX

Pros Recording features...Got 315.00 back for it....

Cons BATTERY LIFE!!!!!!!!! Screen is too sensitive. Too bulky/heavy!! Not all media goes on at once. Only certain video types.

Summary I just shipped my AV320 today. And I recieved my new AV700 today. My av320 was upgraded to
40gb...which voided the warranty..but I bought it off eBay....so that doesnt matter. The point: This thing sucks!!!! The screen is way too sensitive. If you press in between the joystick the screen looks like its about to crack. It is way too heavy and bulky. This battery lasted 30 minutes on a 2 day charge!! Requires too much equipment. Have to use VirtualDUB for everything on this thing mainly.
The quality of the video on the Archos was perfect!! But when I played it back on tv. It added a lot of saturation out of nowhere. It got really blurry. Terrible product!! Terrible customer service. (Til I got my AV700) I am loving it so far. Check out that review I left for it. Anyways I DO NOT recommend this product.
