Archos AV500 Mobile DVR (100GB)

Pros: Screen, Disk Space, Weight, Size

Cons: Build Quality is poor. Prone to resets, poor app performance

Summary: I would have given this device a better score and I really wanted to, for a while it surprised me with its abilities, I could lie in bed and stream video of just about any format from my laptop/server and it would perform the task with ease, that is when it could identify my network (that was a little buggy) sometimes it would just refuse to bring it up. The disk space is awsome and I had a nice collection of about 120 movies on it when it decided one night to die. Like so many other owners, the device became stuck on the "Entertainment your way" screen. The Hard drive was evidently fried. It's only 5 months old and still under warranty so I completed an RMB request on line with Archos explaining the issue. Within 10 minutes I got a response....I guess they are used to it. "Return the product to Archos". They enclosed their return policy which doesn't fill me full of confidence says something about return policy is only valid if you live or purchased the product in Europe. As an Aussie who purchased on Amazon I will wait to see whaty happens and advise.
