"The best PMP in the market place for now."
Pros: Plays great video and audio files of all types, nice 5" screen with high resolution,
Cons: slightly heavy, lack of USB charging,
Summary: The review says that the small antenna that pulls out is for WiFi, but it's actually for DMB (TV broadcasting service exclusively available in Korea at the moment) reception which allows TV viewing on the move. You can watch satelite broadcast TV programs on this device in Korea even as you walk around or ride a taxi around the city of Seoul. A great feature, unfortunately, available only in Korea.
I have used this device for over a month with great satisfaction. It comes with pretty much everything you need, except for a case. A very nice leather case that can provide a kick-stand for hands-free viewing of movies on the unit is available for $10. This leather case minimizes the discomfort of heat generated by the unit as well.
The only things that I wish the unit had are the following:
- USB charging (so that I don't have to carry around the proprietary charging unit, though small it is.)
- Better price (it's relatively speaking, a bit too much. Less than $400, even $500, will make this unit a compelling buy.)
- Built-in WiFi ( my unit purchased in Korea needs additional USB WiFi dongle )
- Windows Mobile 6, instead of Windows CE so that I can have Skype Mobile usable on this unit!
Based on my own reviews of the available PMPs in the market place, this is the best PMP for now. Archos 604 would be another great choice, if you don't mind buying many additional features separately.
IPOD Touch is another great choice if you don't have to deal with constant encoding of movies and don't need the space beyond 16GB.
