"And I actually own one" on by randalllewis
Pros: Amazing screen, outstanding audio quality
Cons: Funky software
Summary: The Zen Vision is a great portable media player. Despite the comments here, it does play a wide variety of video formats and it plays both MP3 and WMA audio. Photos are limited to JPEG. Creative selected the most popular and compatible formats. So if you are into something else, then this isn't your device. That doesn't make the Vision a bad product, it just makes it not for you.
As for what it does, it does very well. The 640x480 screen is nothing short of amazing. You really need to see it. The viewing angle is narrow, but you won't care once you see the screen. Your videos and your photos will look great. The player also does audio as well as any MP3 player on the market. The sound is clear and the EQ feature actually makes a limited difference. The Vision also records voice or FM broadcasts.
My only complaint is with the Creative software- Media Explorer and Media Source. They are just OK. Use WMP10 instead. It does everything the Creative programs do and it syncs flawlessly with the player to download new pics or tunes.
One wish: It would have been a nice touch for the Vision to show album art while playing music. But you can look at your own pics while the tunes play.Updated
I recently purchased Creative's TravelDock for my Zen Micro, a portable speaker system. I plugged the Vision in and was able to watch movies with great sound and no headphones.
Someone asked about the color quality of the screen. I have not noticed any bluish or other off color tints to the screen, but perhaps more sensitive viewers do. I agree it would be nice if the color was adjustable, but I don't think this is a major flaw. The Vision, at least for me, serves as both an extra backup for all my photos and as a portable photo album. When I want to see my pics at their best, I view them on my monitor or print them.
Also, I transferred some movies to the Vision, both color and black and white. I was really pleased with how well the b&w movies look. I'd even saw b&w comes off better on the Vision screen than most computer monitors. -

"Great player, very priceworthy" on by pballfreak34
Pros: Nice screen, pocket size, nice sized hd, great functionalities DivX supported
Cons: umm, no video input for recording
Summary: This PVP may not record TV but it does support just about every video format out there so yuo can put any downloaded or ripped movie on it, It has a nice menu system and look, removable battery is awesome, I just Pre-ordered one and I can't wait.
Updated
this player has everything, a huge screen, plenty of room, and plenty of extras, the FM radio is exellent, the mic recording is amazing, the vibrance of the screen is outsanding, you simply cannot find a better player for this price, the only downfall is that their is no line in recording, but it does support TiVo ToGo which means that you can still put your favorite programs on this wonder device and watch them on your way cross-country -
"Jack of all trades, but master of what?" on by chardk1
Pros: Quite portable for a PVP
Cons: But not small enough for MP3
Summary: This seems like an intriguing device, but is it is good enough to be the be-all end all? People like me used to carrying an Ipod Mini are not going to want to use something this big just for MP3's, and as a PVP it's not as useful or feature-packed as the Archos AV420. Depending on battery life it might still turn out to be a pretty hot gadget, but this seems like yet another convergence device that's not quite there.
PVP's in general still seem to me like one of those things that appear to be a better idea than it actually is. There simply are not as many times when you can sit or stand somewhere and watch video as there is to listen to music or an audiobook. So carrying a hard-to-pocket device that can play video, even though 90% of the time you'll be listening to audio only, isn't worth it to me.
