"Beautiful design, first run bugs"
on by skyline889Pros Excellent sound quality, sleek magnesium body, easy to use interface, wow factor, compact flash slot, optional dock, remote, ext battery, looks as good asthe ipod but doesnt make you look like a sheep
Cons Limited viewing angle, smallish hard drive, doesnt support all video formats, freezes occasionally, only decent battery level
Summary I can't tell you how many times people have come up to me and ask what kind of player I have. It looks good and sounds even better, the 97 db snr puts it at the top of its class, and has enough juice to even power my sennheisers without any distortion, support for music encoded at up to 48000 hz, 16 bits, photo playback, video playback look beautiful, if you look at it form the right angle that is. The 30 gb hard drive is rather small for a multimedia device but with the optional cf slot it is more than enough for daily use. I preordered mine from creative and unfortunately mine suffers from the usual first runn bugs, every now and then freezes requiring you to remove the battery, this ruins an otherwise perfect player, also the battery gets off colored and scratched very easily. But other than this it is a wonderful media player

"For the price better than an IPOD"
on by sdshopperPros Nice big screen that makes Videos and Pictures pop!
Cons Sometimes video freezes and no stop button
Summary Anyone intrested in buying a PVP should take a look at this unit. I've been researching and have had an eye on this one since it came out, finally got one for the Holidays and the many business trips coming up. The battery life is great. I watched the entire first season of the office and had extra battery to spare. I outputted the zen to my 42" Hitachi Plasma and it look pretty good, about VHS quaility. Music sounds great, photos look even better. Being an avid photographer I was looking at a way to store all my pictures on the road without having to spend $400 on just a compact flash card. The Zen was the answer. Now I can take pictures on my 2GB card and when it's full, I dump all my digital raw images onto the zen vision. Since I take pictures with RAW+Jpeg I can view my pictures on my zen and then when I return home I can dump it onto my computer. Anyways here are my top reasons to purchase this unit:
1. large display, small form factor.
2. Compact flash port. If you own a DSLR you should buy this. For the same price as a 4GB compact flash card you buy this unit and get seven times the storage out of it.
3. Has built in calendar and organizer
4. FM RADIO
5. If you fly a lot, no more watching inflight movies or lugging out your laptop and carrying DVDs. Listen to your favorite music and watch your favorite movies or TV shows. (Mine holds about 2000 songs, 2 seasons of family guy, 10 movies and about 500 pictures with a couple of gigs to spare)
6. Plus it looks cool -

"for all the frustrated folks out there"
on by j316_08Pros pretty screen with a good size
Cons very limited vewing angle ... hard to download files
Summary for those of us looking at the archos av500 and the zen vison and not knowing what to do or what to buy and having problems converting and viewing files and films ... there is a new product out there made by COWON.. its called the A2 and it comes in 20 and 30 gig. versions. it supports almost every possible video format out there i havent found one it doesnt support yet. has a 4 inch screen with same resolution as av500 and its battery life is 18 hours for music and 10 for watching vids. it records directly from tv's thru the simple white, red and yellow cables (like hooking up a video camera to your tv) that everyone knows how to use, Audio quality is supurb and it comes with with an additional bass booster and equalizer. i say check this product out (you can see it on this web site) before you buy a pvp ... COWON A2 ... its the best
