  • "Slick product design; sharing with vista is problematic"
    on by winthorp

Pros Very nice looking display and great picture quality.

Cons Customer Service. The frame worked as expected except for when I tried to network the frame and stream contect from by Vista machine.

Summary I was hoping the network sharing would be much more robust. I have a home network with XP and Vista machines. The device worked great with XP however, I could never get sharing to work with the Vista machine. I have spent countless hours researching the problem with very little useful support from HP. HP offered to take the frame back however I highly doubt anything is wrong with the display as it works great with an XP network. I am hoping HP comes up with some new firmware or troubleshooting information to resolve sharing through Windows Media Player on Vista. If not for all the headache with streaming the photos (my primary reason for putting this device on my Christmas list) I probably would give this item 4 stars. The Facebook,Snapfish, Pandora streaming worked great. I also wish the frame could stream from Picasa.

  • "Over priced and under engineered"
    on by grantster32

    Pros Photos are sharp

Cons Customer service, no mac support, limited video formats, facebook connection

Summary This product does look sleek and has lots of promise but it is under-engineered and to me, substandard given its hefty price tag. First, the product does not synch to MACs at all. If you have a MAC, keep looking. Secondly, no touch screen is a real pain and the calendar app is basically useless you only want to see the date. Thirdly, the connection to Facebook was impossible for some accounts. This was the most bizaree qwirk and ultimately was the reason I retuned it. I could connect it to mine but not my friends even after changing her username and password three times. Three calls to tech support totaling 2.5 hours did not resolve the issue. And along the way, I was promised 3 return calls by "Cindy" and "Dan" who had very American sounding names but who were obviously in India. Last names were strangely "unavailable". Hmmm. Almost as if they knew there would never be a returned call and did not want a complaint with their real name tied to it.

In short, what was supposed to be a gift turned out to be a frustrating experience and I will not be purchasing another HP product after this experience and given the TERRIBLE customer service. A note to HP...if you promise you will call a customer back on three different occassions, perhaps it would be a good idea to keep ONE of those promises!
