"Doesn't play moderately hi-res files" on by peterwaitzman

Pros: Very small, easy to use

Cons: Any file at 740x480 pixels play like still-motion photography... unwatchable. Anything below 700x388 seem to play fine. Anything about 1000x800 just won't play at all, and files over 800 megs seem to freeze and reboot the system about 50 mins in.

Summary: If you have a lot of small, low-res video files, this is a good system, but for anything around DVD quality and feature film length are going to be unwatchable. Get a D-Link instead... the price is roughly the same and playback is much better.

"Well worth the cash!" on by tk76054

Pros: Ease getting movies from my desktop in the basement to the TV upstairs. Easy to use. Great picture. SeaGate external portable hard-drives work great.

Cons: MOST USB FLASH DRIVES I'VE TRIED DON'T WORK. Impact brand - didnt work, SanDisk Cruzer - 2GB, 4GB, 8GB didnt work, Kingston DataTravler 16GB didnt work, Lexar 1GB didnt work. X-Digital Travel Warrior 4GB is the only one I've found that works.

Summary: I also have the 500GB Screenplay - love it! Would be nice if you could send technical support questions via email to Iomega. IE - what USB flash drives do work besides the one brand that I have found by accident? Yes, I made sure they were formatted correctly.

"No-complaints TV link" on by PeterSnipes

Pros: quick startup, fast play, portable, compatible with all formats I played on it

    Cons: probably not so soon

Summary: Started up within a few minutes and is running fine. Dint need help of a video converter for any of the formats I needed, examples AVI and Divx. This is a portable and versatile tv link player which I am experimenting with almost every day, no complaints.

"Move Player Controls are severely lacking!" on by spipics

Pros: Small, lightweight, and came with cables!

Cons: 1. Move Player Controls are severely lacking! You cannot navigate to Play Movie, Languages, Scene Selection, or Extras.
    2. Pause movie control is temporary ; returns to beginning of movie.
    3. Cannot access or play NETFLIX movies on demand.

Summary: You get what you pay for I guess. There's gotta be something better.
    RECAP:
    1. Move Player Controls are severely lacking! There is no Movie Menu control, so you cannot navigate to Languages, Scene Selection, or Extras. This is a huge negative. Also, when viewing large (or multiple chapter movies, there is no way to skip to a specific chapter. I was watch The Universe by the History Channel, and it took me several minutes just to skip (minute by minute is all you can do) to get to the 3rd chapter.
    2. Pause movie control is temporary. After a certain length of time it returns to the main file you are playing. Because of ISSUE#-1 above, this is a horrible action. If the movie or documentary is hours long, you must watch it in one sitting or else it starts over! THIS IS AN UGLY DEFAULT !
    3. Cannot access or play NETFLIX movies on demand.
    4. The virtual keypad is very cumbersome to use, especially because there is no backspace to delete just typed letters, you must navigate to a DELete key. Awful interface here.
    5. Iomega offers no tech support on Saturday & Sunday.
