"ONE of the best, but not the best"
on by RCA ManPros Dude, it plays video(EVEN DVD AND VHS COPYRIGHT!!!), plays mp3 20gb, view photos(zoom in and out), audible, store documents, and regualr basic stuff liek calender, time, and eqs....
Cons kinda bulky, freezes, no wmv, have to go to menu to get another song(explained in opinions), 14hrs of life,
Summary Listen to me, i know everything about this product so when you buy it you know what to expect, so no surprises. First- 20gb, 80 hrs of video, you CAN RECORD copyright VHS and DVD, you can record from t.v. and satelitte(the new version is coming the great about the new version, you can record you voice and a dock for an extra $250, es STUIPD). so wait for the new version to go down for people on budgets. it takes long to get ready and freezes kind of, have to go back to get another song for example you pick " gangstas paradise" and want to pcik antoher you have to go to the menu and do it for music, thouh-Dont get sad , YOU CAN GET ANOTHER SONG BUT TAKES TO LONG AND ITS FASTER TO GO TO THE MENU AND TO THE FOLDERS OF MUSIC. EARPHONES ARE ALRIGHT. CASE IS KINDA TO SMALL FOR IT. GREAT RESOLUTION VERY SURPISED, AND I DONT GET SURPRISES EASILY. VERY EASY TO PUT MOVIES IF THEY ARE IN YOUR COMPUTER-YOU JUST DRAG AND DROP(COPY AND PASTE). ITS PC COMAPTIBLE AND WINDOWS. CHARGES FAST LIKE IN 3 HOURS(ITS SHORTER THAN THE IPOD, ESPECAILLY SINCE THIS ONE DOES MORE), YOU CAN ZOOM ON PHOTOS AND ROATAE THEM GREAT FOR A PERSON THAT VIEWS PHOTS(IPOD PHOTOING SUCKS-dude you can only look at the picture, what kind of crap is that for ipod, but whatever the RCA wont do that to you). i like the batter 14 hrs and i beleive its 5 hrs for movies(i dont like that, but cmon this what the first PVP in the market give RCA credit, some PVPS are so crappy that only last like the PSP-2hrs.lol) great sound and the design to cool, not the best or cingon, but i like it.) music is like drag and drop super easy. USB 2.0 trasnfers so its like fast. it shows pictures of albums. ITS exactly like the ipod, but its better and bulker and has allot of other features and way chaeaper . Go to amazon and they sell them for brand new $250, dude a ipod 20gb new is like $300, for only music and crappy photos. this one has like craps loads of features. i travel allot and i chill in the airplane watching in movies. that rating 7.3 is not good, it derves at least a 8.0 rating(it has that rating of 7.3 becauase they "say it cant record vhs and dvd copyright" thats BS. you can. ill show you. you start recording the movie and press pause and wait until the warning and federal law explains leaves and when the movie starts 12 seconds from that point, press play to continue recording and there you go my firend and you got your movies on the go. YEAHHHHHHHHHHH. you buy it now and forget the ipod photo. G2g surfing. bye

"Low cost but poor quality! I’ve tested 3 different units and placed this one on the bottom."
on by sugarskiPros Lowest cost of devices tested. Records live TV. Can store your movie collection on it and play on device or connect to TV.
Cons No supplied software for converting your own movie files. Not the best playing quality.
Summary Low cost but poor quality! I’ve tested 3 different units and placed this one on the bottom.
A friend had a portable media player and I fell in love with it so I purchased 3 and used each one for 3 weeks before deciding which to keep. The ones I reviewed are the RCA Lyra A/V jukebox, Creative ZEN PMC and the Archos AV420.
I rate these as follows
RCA Lyra A/V jukebox 4
Creative ZEN PMC 6
Archos AV420 9
I will post a review for each of these but this review is on the RCA Lyra A/V jukebox.
Pretty versatile and lowest price ($350) of all units but didn’t come with a cradle or remote control. In addition it didn’t come with software necessary if you want to make your own recordings. Easily connects to your TV but without a cradle you have to connect wires every time. You can connect this to the output of your TV, cable box or VCR and record TV like a DVR can. I was also able to back up my purchased DVD collection onto it but it wasn’t as easy as with the Archos and software didn’t come with it. This unit as did all performed perfectly in storing and playing music (MP3/WMA) as well as storing the family picture album. As all devices you can store files onto it as well. The built in LCD screen provides good resolution. Manuals were not very useful as they really didn’t do a good job of explaining different formats required and where to find the codecs for these since they didn’t supply them. When playing video the quality was great, no pixilation and very smooth transition through the movie.
Please note this is my own opinion. Poor quaity video opinion is based on viewing 3 different units. I love the price on this unit. -
"My thoughts on RD2780."
onPros Excellent packaging! It comes with all needed accessories. The fit and finish are very nice. Excellent menu system that is easy to navigate. Easy to set up and use through USB 2.0 cable. The functions it does have work very well.
Cons When I first read about this product I was very excited! The specs read off like a gadget wish list. Upon purchasing the unit about a month ago I've encountered a few problems that have made the device less usable than I had hoped for. First is the photo

"Has room for improvement...but I will keep it"
onPros Once you get the quirks out of the video playback i have no problem converting my dvds to mpeg4 (divx4,5 and xvid). The compact flash card slot is a bonus, and music playback is good. there are lots of room for improvement but after looking at the competi
Cons Just like everyone said earlier most features are not available yet.(firmware updates) Getting the right mix of dvd rippers and encoders takes time to figure out. (two days of trial and error) You cant transfer files to the CF card, and can only transfer

"Very good, and unfortunately very much maligned."
on by Reggie1973Pros Great images, fast, sleek
Cons Can not set a timer like Tivo products
Summary I have had this device for over a year, a little difficult at first, but now I can not live without it. Getting around the copyright codes on DVD's is extremely simple if not infantile. Recording from TV is easy and tranfering files from your PC is fast and painless. I recomend it for everyone who wants the best.
