"Awesome power conditioner at an excellent price point."
Pros: Well Built - Performs as Advertised - Looks Great - Excellent Value
Cons: Can't really find any yet
Summary: The Belkin PF-60 is a very nice piece of Home Theater equipment tht looks very nice integrated into a home theater equipment rack. I have a yamaha RX-Z9 and the power that this big receiver requires was cutting my power out to the entire system. It did it so much so that I was forced to swap out the center piece of my system for an older yet very nice Sony V555ES unit that did not require as much juice as the Yamaha. Needless to say, it didn't take long for me to start missing the sound of the Yamaha. So I went shopping for a power conditioner to help me with my power problem.
My system consists of the Yamaha RX-Z9, XBOX 360, PS3, custom built media center with a 500 watt power supply, Belkin Battery Back Up AP-30800, HD DVR HR22, Ethernet HUB, and Monoprice 6-1 HDMI switcher. My Sony VPL-VW40 is wired to the ceiling, but when I was having problems, it would turn off as well.
When I hooked everything I could up to the Belkin Battery Back Up, 2 things would occur, when I turned on the system with the Logitech 880 remote, sometimes the receiver would kick off the Belkin unit and turn everything off as the load would exceed the limits of power. This was the Belkin doing it's job and of no fault to that unit. I just had way to many components plugged into the unit. Also, the battery would drain in about 20 minutes when there was a power loss. Next, the unit would overload if I was playing a blu ray disc and driving my system at higher listening levels. In other words, I had a power problem. I researched a solution and luckily I found the Belkin PureAV PF-60. I plugged every unit into the PF-60 except for the media center and HD DVR which I have plugged into the Battery Back Up unit. I'm not sure if this is optimal, but it seems a logical configuration.
As soon as I finished the re-wiring of my entire system, I noticed that when I fired up my system, the loud noise that accompanied the turning on of the Yamaha receiver was greatly reduced. Also, there is absolutely no hum in my system at all. I mention this not because I noticed a hum previously, but rather because I was looking for hum as I turned the volume to high levels and listened for hum. There was none.
As far as the load goes on the system, the number on the front of the unit is displaying 120.1 when all components are turned on. I would have even thought about turning all of the components on at one time as it would have surely made my system turn off, but I kept all components on for the first 3 hours and played games, watched DTV, and played a bit of a reference BD.
All I can say is for $220, this unit is performing flawlessly and has made a difference in my system. This unit retailed for $749 when it first was introduced onto the market, and it was a bargain at that price. At it's current street price, there is no better power conditioning solution out there. Period. No other unit can match it's 13 outlets, Level 4 power protection and phase 6 power conditioning. And the unit is well built and a nice compliment to my overall system.
