Pros FAST FAST FAST
Cons NOT cheap, gets a little toasty in a mATX case!
Summary Beastly CPU and a MASSIVE perfomance advantage over a x2 4200 @2.6GHz. I've mine running on a Biostar TF7025-M2 @3.0GHz with a Zalman CNPS 8700 LED heatsink. ~40 Deg at desktop with <1,000 rpm and hovers near 62 Deg' still silent at <1,500rpm in a LANbox Lite case with a HD 3870 putting out monster levels of heat!
That twonk that gave it a poor rating has no clue on how to clean and mount a CPU heatsink by the sound of it. Get youself some paint restorer to polish the CPU and heatsink with, then clean off with strong alcohol then apply a grain of rice sized blob of AS5 and throw the heatsink on, twist side to side then clamp her up and Bob's yr father's brother Fanny's his sister...
"awsome processor for much less then what we have been conditioned to by the fat boyz at intel"on by bigfujitsu
Pros fast, low power use
Cons misrepresentation by intel
Summary I definitely agree with you all: this AMD processor is faster, and cheaper then its Intel counterparts. Why should we pay more for less???
"THIS IS OWNZORD!"on by zeras
Pros Gamer Made! NO hands down!
Cons really expensive conpaired to Intel's chips!
Summary you can play
64 bit versions of games
this will show you
how much of a diffrence
your gaming performace can be!
Pros Fastest CPU you Can Get
Cons None , but it is not Buldozer
Summary slight changes in design and faster memory (DDR2 800) make this the old target for Intel...downside...Bulldozer is on the way and that is the Intel competition. not this chip AMD is just taking the big bucks till Intel ships Core 2 Duo then they start the war with price and with performance with Buldozer....kind of like the old days with Slot A and slot 1 huh....I cannot wait to see who comes out on top.
Pros It finally supports DDR2 Hallelujah!!!!
Cons Heats up really quickly even with heatsink and fan.
Summary I had to scrap my PC because of this worthless chip. It completely heated up after an hour of running and it was not even overclocked. I later bought an Intel Core 2 Duo and a new motherboard and switched the components. Worked like a charm. Moral of the story, don't waste your time on AMD.
