Pros: Have had this cpu for 3 years and just recently started thinking about upgrading to a core 2 cpu. Intel did a good job with this one..

Pros: Faster than a Celeron, and acts like a dual core with certain programs
Cons: hotter than a Core 2 duo, and Celerons based on the Pentium 3 and Core 2 microarchitecture
Summary: it was fast in its day, now its good enough to run a game or 2, but if you don't have the proper cooling, it starts to cook on you at 60*C and higher

Summary: I recently had a computer custom built around this processor, with one gig of DDR2ram, an Asus Extreme AX550GE/TD Radeon X550 256MB video card and a 160 gig Maxtor HD all rigged to an Asus P5GD2-X motherboard. The processor performed flawlessly and even after a number of resource draining startup programs were installed I can be surfing on the net less then 2 mins after I hit the start up button. Although the graphics card is inexpensive, the processor along with the gig of ram seems to keep both Doom 3 and Quake 4 moving smoothly without so much as a hiccup on some very high graphics settings. Disk defragmenting, installation of programs and converting formats in large documents all take place very quickly to say the least. Multi tasking of course goes smoothly as having 4 or 5 word documents open along with a couple of pdf's, cutting and pasting text from one format to another, while downloading files and listening to music as I’m chatting on messenger certainly has no apparent negative effect on any of the applications as they all run smoothly with a virtual instant response to any input. All in all for a very reasonable price its a muscle bound processor that does just about anything you ask of it, and in a very rapid fashion at that.
