"Pentium D fist stage dual core from intel"2.5 starson by knight2448
Pros: It is a great improvement over pentium 4
Cons: I really do not see a huge increase in performance
Summary: I bought my computer last september. Actually I tried to get the new (conroe) core 2 duo and had to settle for a pentium D because Dell was not able to get it to me. Intel was shipping the core 2 duo to apple for their new computers. Every other manufacturer took a back seat in the initial launch process.
I had a pentium 4 w/ht on my old dell, it was time to upgrade. Overall I have nothing bad to say about the Pentium D. I think Intel should have rethought the process in which they were doing business at the time. The core 2 duo goes all the way back to 1.66 ghz, the stoine age of computers. They claim the dual core has two separate cores running at the same speed. So in reality they are telling me my 2.8GHZ Pentium D is running at 5.6GHZ, I dont believe it.
THere is no way anyone is going to convince me of that.
My computer does not run that fast. I thought we were supposed to be running computers areound 6GHZ by now, but they had one problem, HEAT.
The max I have seen was 3.6GHZ and not overclocked.
I heard the buzz on the net about a new processor that uses 45 nanometer technology, according to intel they are supposed to have quad core capability. I am still waiting for them to revolutionize computing once again like they did when they went over 3GHZ and AMD was just breaking 2GHZ. GO INTEL.
