"WoW!!!!. Unbeatable performace for the price" on by Cstokowski

Pros: Great contrast, easy to use. Phenonmenal HD, software is updatable!

    Cons: Fixed Audio out!!!!!!!!!! Booooo!

Summary: So I bought this TV mostly for the price point while I was looking at the 52" Mitsubishi and Toshiba models as well. When I got it home and got it all set up initially I was unimpressed with the picture, I thought it should be more crisp. And I thought the HD was unacceptable in the Standard and Dynamic Video modes. Looked good in Theater Pro. As time when on the TV's picture kept getting better and better. I went back to where I purchased it for some advice and talked to a guy there who was willing to do what ever I wanted (return or exchange). He said honestly just take some time and adjust the video settings and see how that works. I took about 30-45 min last night to adjust the video in all of the video modes and the picture is now one of the best I have seen on any HD set, including ones that are much more expensive that this one. The only thing that I wish this has that it doesnt is a variable audio out. I wasnt sure that I could live with it but now that I have the picture adjusted, there is no way that I want to take it back and get an inferior set for more money. This thing is the steal of the year.. Just for those of you who dont know, This tv uses the same technology as the SXRD Sony sets that everyone raves about, LCOS is awesome!

"Unbelieveable Excellent picture" on by fusionpeak

Pros: HDILA 3 chip technology and Hi Def tuners pulls in all the HD channels and then some

Cons: cooling fan makes a little noise but it is worth it

Summary: The 3 chip tecnology makes this set superior to all the DLP tv,s that I have tried. Came with an included TV stand and is light enough to mount on a wall. The HDILA technology makes for a fantastic quality picture and I am going to buy one for my bedroom. I have tried Sony, Mitsubishi, Toshiba and RCA and for the price this set blows them away

"Absolutely loved it." on by msrs1983

Pros: The picture is great, had no problems with the bulb, it has nice features and the price was good for the time we bought (fall 2006)

Cons: availablility and cost of parts - horrible!

Summary: We only had the TV fall of 06-fall of 09, then the light engine crapped out. And guess what, $3,000 part! we didn't pay that much for the TV. If JVC's products are all like this then we'll never buy another product from them. it's quite disappointing to buy something you think is good quality and had never seen a day of harsh conditions, then when something goes, you can't afford the part!

"Best picture for the money and more.." on by duboiz

Pros: Exellect picture quality and colors, good sound, price is a steal..

Cons: Black level could be better. Air filtes need to be vacuum regulary otherwise you will loose the bulb. Menu navigation is slow and awkward

Summary: I got mine about six month ago for $1,180 and for the money it is simply a steal. The picture really stand out in the show room with great accurate color and sharpness. Although the black level could be better, it can be overcome by having some background light when viewing.

The TV is light enough for two people to move around, it is very shallow compare to the old tube type rear projection tvs so it can be very close to the back wall.

For those who lost their bulb it is from one of two reasons:
    1. The vent filters got clogged and heat the lamp above normal temperature. (they need to be cleaned at least once a month, or more if you leave in a dusty environment.)
    2. The bulb cooling or warming has been interrupt by power shortage. I plugged my TV to UPS so it will never run into this problem. (By the way every rear projection TV need this warming/cooling time, it is not unique to this TV)

    Bottom line:
I can tell you that everyone that came and watch a movie on my TV tell me they had never seen such a great picture, I also use the OPPO DVD player that have the upconvert resolution, so the player has also something to do with the quality.

Just a note that I'm a veteran in the printing industry and I'm very critical in color, skin tone, gray balance etc. so I have some credit on color quality.

"Not the greatest unit available." on by chief623

    Pros: Great picture

    Cons: not reliable

Summary: I own two of these. I bought one and liked the picture so well I bought another. Less than a year after buying the 1st one the lamp went out, and dealing with JVC is not a fun experience. It took almost a month to get that problem resolved. I am now experiencing problems with the 2nd one that I bought. It is 2 mos. past the 1 year warranty so I am out of luck with having them take care of it, and they had no problem letting me know that.
So, while the picture is good, I can not recommend this product, or any other JVC product, to anyone.
