"The TV gets a 10... JVC's service gets a ZERO"
Pros: great picture, many connections
Cons: JVC's service sucks, and BestBuy was incompetent
Summary: When I gave the JVC HD-56787 a 9, I was solely grading the TV itself. It has an excellenct picture, even with most regular cable channels. The sound is fine I suppose... personally I hooked mine through sound sound so I didn't use the TV's speakers much. Both the Nintendo Wii and PS2 look great on it.
I fully believe that I would have loved this TV as I had done some research on it and many other models, but I was just unlucky with it and got a dud...
So now for the BAD stuff. I got this tv at an amazing deal I thought, because it was the floor model selling for 1599.99 with a stand, and as a bonus, it came with a $375 BestBuy gift card. The first problem was that BestBuy gave me the wrong remote control. After getting that fixed, it took 8 days from the day of purchase for the lamp to go out and the TV to no longer turn on. So my first warning is to be weary of floor models because the lamp has who knows how many hours of use out of its life. Second, If you purchase a TV like this one, it would be a good idea to find some kind of warrenty like the one BestBuy offers because JVC is terrible. They took my service request and never followed up on it. I talked to BestBuy and they said that JVC should have to pay for it because it was still under manufacturer's warrenty and JVC felt they were not liable because it was not a malfuntioning appliance, just a used up piece. So after a few days of the two companies fighting over it, I said screw it and I am taking the TV back.
