Outstanding performance and at only 100 Watts -- wow!

Pros: Brilliant colors, deep blacks.
100 Watt power usage -- Outstanding design!

Cons: None really.

Review: Shopped for price and bought mine new for $1,999 when Mitsubishi had its model changeover to the 75-inch model. There are detailed technical reviews of this Mitsubishi LaserVue that will be more informative than my comments here. All the good stuff you read -- it's all true! This TV has been reliable, i.e., no problems whatsoever.

I am enjoying 3D movies with DLP-Link Glasses and a Panasonic DMP-BDT110 Blu-ray player, which outputs the checkerboard signal required for DLP-Link 3D glasses and the Mitsubishi LaserVue. No IR emitter required!

I can't believe my eyes!

Pros: Amazing picture that has to be seen to be believed.

Cons: Clunky remote

Review: I've had this set for about a week. (I paid 2999.99 shipped) I still can't get over the picture. I wake up in the middle of the night to see if it's really as amazing as I remembered or if I've been dreaming. But yes, It's true. I have a ps3, and( some) blue ray movies actually look like they are in 3d even though they are not, incredible. I've been experimenting with brilliant mode, and the colors seemed a bit artificial at first, but after I've gotten used to it, I find myself going back to it from the other modes. It's like being lost in a technocolor dream. I do have 3d setup via my ps3 and have just have tried Avatar, Tangled, Monster house, and Grand canyon adventure. I can't believe how Avatar looks,( although I don't have the 3d version of it)-too bad the movie blows on ice, but it's amazing to watch. I have a Samsung 55 in led backlit lcd, and the picture on the laserview is much better in my opinion. The contrast and black levels are stunning. The sheer amount of color on the screen is something to behold. Caution, regular tv channels don't look very good, but I really don't care, as I use the tv for movies and video games. 3D video games like motorstorm and gt5 are like being on an acid trip. Anyone who thinks this tv doesn't have a jaw dropping picture needs to see there doctor immediately, and be checked for a brain tumor. Now that the price is somewhat within reason, I say if you can afford it buy it right now!! this minute!! It's too bad that Mitsubishi doesn't have the sets in more retail locations, as I bought mine without seeing it anywhere except on youtube, and needless to say I was a bit apprehensive. It all turned out for the best though, and I am in 7th heaven!!---- Sorry--- I'm getting withdrawl symptoms again,--- gotta go look at my Laserview now!! Bye!!

Sub-par image for any amount paid over $2k. (Jan-2011)

Pros: Great colors, Elegant design. Dedicated LaserVue Customer Support Line

Cons: Having had 2 of these sets: Image quality is BAD. Customer support does NOT call back if you ask them to help resolve the poor image quality. To quote them "That's the way the product is meant to look"

Review: Having had TWO of these sets (Mitsu authorized service reps came out TWICE with their own test equipment), images with lots of motion demonstrate mild fragmentation (I'm not referring to notorious laser speckle!) Additionally images with lots of black background and a brighter object in the center (Sci Fi scenes) have a halo affect, where what should be a smooth transition between greyscales is fragmented into distinct rings.
I have spent countless hours on the phone with the Mitsu support group. Service reps came out twice, the first time the rep agreed the image didn't look good. He reported to Mitsu that it wasn't right. To quote Mitsu's response to the rep's report: "We will replace your set, but guarantee that there is nothing wrong with it." (They did replace it.) When the 2nd set looked just as bad, Mitsu sent a 2nd rep. He said to me "If you saw this on your 1st set, then the probability of you getting two bad sets is highly improbable, I'm going to submit a report that states The set is normal." I guess Mitsu was right from the start, there was nothing wrong, the 2nd set looked just as bad.

I feel burned! I spent a lot of time and money on this set. I guess I read what I wanted to read on the reviews, I wanted the set to be "All that", I wanted the latest and greatest and I ignored the reviews that bashed the LV. Never again will I buy new technology without heading the advice of the displeased!

To boot, I scratched the screen on my 2nd set and when I called Mitsu to order a replacement protective screen? guess what: There is none. The primary screen is permanently scratched. Great!

Purest color & lowest power consumption of any 65" TV

Pros: Many more colors than any TV I've ever seen. Lowest power consumption of any TV its size. HD photos are best I've ever seen. Plenty of HDMI inputs (4)

Cons: Initial price was high. Initial colors were a bit too saturated & somewhat unatural. Mits had a s/w update that corrected the problem. No older-type multi-pin monitor input such as from an older laptop.

Review: I have 5 TV's or monitors from 30" to 70" - several flat screens. Given the same programming & source, this TV delivers many more colors than any I've ever seen. The color gamut must be at least twice that of any other TV. Blacks have what appears to be infinite depth & shades. Measured power consumption when on (w/o audio & natural color mode) in my home is 89 watts average over a 2-week period. HD photos are almost 3D. When full 1920 x 1080 photos are operated from a flash memory directly inputted to the TV, it is slow to read from one to another (I don't know if it is due to the speed of the flash drive or not). Remote is easy to operate but input changes are a bit slow. I'm expected to view 3D it the next week or two and will update this review. Just think, no heavy glass lenses or focus issues as LASERS focus directly on the screen. I believe LASERS will be the wave of the future as they are in cameras (NIkon) and may appear in phones shortly.

Bad technology, Horrible support.

Pros: looks, nothing good about it otherwise.

Cons: poor picture quality, Center of the screen is dim and periphery is brighter( which as per warranty service agent, Mike is "normal". In a white blank screen, you see pinkish verticle stripes.
Horrible support.

Review: Do not buy it ple..........ase. I bought it through Direct buy and I am getting run around for taking care of the problems. It is only 2 wks and nobody will do anything or take it back. I am stuck with it.
Go buy panasonic plasma instead which is $300 less at Costco. I already have two of them and they are great.

Technology Marches On - Great Use of Laser

Pros: I've had a 60" Sony Bravia for over two years and continued to love the picture. I only became discontent with the opportunity to view this set Mitsubishi gives me sharper detail, darker blacks, and more vivid color.

Cons: Only the price - but once you start watching...

Review: Truly in the stratosphere of monitors. Don't know when there will be any significant volume of 3-D programming, but that's not why I bought this. When reading reviews, see who rates this unit poorly due to price. Almost exclusively, it is non-owners. If you can't afford this, there are wonderful sets for a couple thousand dollars less. But, if you can afford it, read the reviews of us owners - no one is disappointed.

The size is as large as I need. Add my 7.1 sound system and I don't want to watch movies at a theater. Heck, I am even likely to attend fewer games in person. My place - game's on.

Updated on Jun 25, 2010

After living with the LaserVue for several months, let me add this. This television's clarity and blacks still impress me. The vividness of the color was slightly excesssive, resolved by a slight decrease in color level. I'm still very happy with it and recommend it, especially if it can be had for $4-5K (I admit $7K is excessive.)

I give it a 5

Pros: Its Great! Best set I've never seen.

Cons: None as I haven't viewed it.

Review: I don't own this television. I've not even viewed it. Apparently you don't have to do either to give a review or rating. It's aggravating to sit and read useless review on products from people who don't own the products. Some I even suspect haven't even viewed the products. So for the benefit of others, if you don't own or have not given the product "real world testing" keep your opinions to yourself.
As for my rating of 5, lets just say it's an effort to try and balance other misrepresented ratings.

Best picture you will see on any set...Period!

Pros: Best picture available, hands down. Nothing compares. The sharpness and colors are AMAZING!

Cons: Yeah, it's pricey, but if you want the best, you gotta pay for it, and the price is falling fast. Cheapest on the web at this writing is just over $4100.00.

Review: I can afford it, so I have no complaints. If you want to walk into Costco and be able to say to yourself as you're looking at all those DLP's and Plasma's, "My set BLOWS those away", then the Laservue is what you're looking for. I believe product reviews should be about the quality, not the price. If you want the best possible, you're gonna pay a premium. Ask the salesperson to plug in the movie "UP", and go to the scene where the old man lets the baloons go to lift his house, and you'll be taking this set home. Plus, no screen burn in, and the pic will look as good in ten years as the day you bought it, plus it's 3d ready. I'd give my set 6 stars if I could.

DLP and Projection TV's.......why?

Pros: There are no pros with DLP's or Projection TV's, they do not stand up to the picture quality of an LCD or Plasma and even the price gap is not a benefit now.

Cons: See Pro's above.

Review: Put up an extra $200 or $300 and get a LCD or Plasma. Don't waste your money on a DLP/Projection TV.

WOW Very Impressive Color Blacks Breakthrough Design

Pros: The color saturation and blacks are wonderful on this set. Best I have ever seen on any rear projection TV. BlueRays and 3D computer gaming are fantastic, so it's an all in one media set. All around, the best rear projection set picture ever.

Cons: Price is too expensive in comparison to LCD LED back-lit flat panels which has the best and brightest pictures and come close to screen size.

Review: This will end the old earlier DLP lamp technologies.

Why do 65"? Where's the 75", 85", & 95 inch size sets? Like others state, this technology would be great on larger sets and really bring out 3D and computer usage.

Do not buy!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: The only good part about this tv is the power consumption, 135 watts is incredibly low, but not enough to make up for its flaws

Cons: These flaws include the fact that it only looks good on Speedracer, other reference materials or everyday blu ray discs look absolutely terrible.

Review: Excellent content such as Kingdom of Heaven (4k transfer) or really any other movie that looks great on sets down to $1000 dollars or so will look terrible on the Laservue. And don't even attempt to watch hdtv broadcast or standard definition content. The units ability to scale is non-existent in the sense of creating a picture that you would be willing to pay $1000 for, let alone $7k. Steer clear of this set, unless of course you liek throwing your money down a toilet and plunging until it finally flushes away. Better luck next time Mitsubishi, you fell way short of our expectations.

Great Technology, but Marketing, Sales, & Pricing Sux!

Pros: The Picture, Color, Lumens, Tint, Refresh Rate, 3D are Excellent for a rear projection set I've always been a fan of the old RGB lens RPs blacks, but DLPs ruined the picture of RPs. WOW, now there's new life for Rear Projection sets!

Cons: Ridiculous Pricing Foolish Sizing, this set could of corner the market on large RP sets, but the sizing doesn't compare to equivalent Flat panels Sharpness needs to be improved on the 65" so anything larger in future models will suffer significantly.

Review: Mitsubishi could of cornered the market and sales for very large Rear Projection in this new technologies where Flat panels can't compete... on SIZE. 75", 85" and 95" would of sealed an entire new movement for sports and home theater. Then the pricing would be justified and that's the area where Flat Panels wouldn't be able to compete on pricing.

You cannot compete with Flat Panel LEDs with this Laser light set at the same size and even higher pricing. ***? AGAIN...Go up in size, that will appeal to all, and I'll buy too. Maybe throw in your choice sports ticket season from Dish Network or DirecTV to seal the deal!

PS: I moonlight as an ISF tech.

Over Priced New Technology

Pros: none as its new technology

Cons: Overpriced
Mits customer service is terrible
Bad DLP tv's period

Review: TV is overpriced! Its another first generation TV from mits and their first generation DLP tv?s have been nightmares. There other generation of DLP tv?s have also had numerous problems. They have 2 current lawsuits against them and treat their customers like crap.

For a rear projection set. WOW!

Pros: Best color I've seen in any rear projection
Futuristic look

Cons: Price. It's still a rear projection.

Review: With the industry strongly leaning toward flat panel, you have to hand it to Mitsubishi for clinging to RPTV. They certainly have a winner here. Strong picture. easily the best for a rear projection. Maybe even matches most flat panels. Sharpness and detail still do not match the best of the LCD or Kuro units.
Bottom line; if this set debuted at 4999 you may be convinced to buy the best rear projection. But for 7000.00, you really have to ask yourself...why?

Best colors; best conntrast; images move smoothly

Pros: The REDs are amazing! Its the closest I have seen to watching an actual movie screen.

Cons: It is very important to sit with your eyes at the vertical mid-point -- the image degrades rather noticilable 8 inches either up or down from there. On the other hand though, moving side to side horizontially the image was not noticiably degraded.

Review: All current TVs are not obsolete. Fireworks look nearly like the real thing.

Great Projection TV, Horrible Pricing

Pros: Great Colors, Wide angle viewing, good brightness, Good Picture, about 10-11 inches deep, which for a projection set it is good.

Cons: Horrible Pricing, Mitsubishi believes they can price a projection set against flat panel sets!!!
Annoying Blue lighting below tv screen, Picture is soft when compared to old Misubishi color contrast, more like a sony, but not so bad

Review: When looking at this set, i really was impressed, for a projection set it had great color, brightness and viewing angle, nice slim trim around the set picture area did have a couple annoying things, most notably the bright Blue led lighting below the screen.

For all the hype before the release, without soliciting any consumer or industry feedback for actual production units or pricing info ahead of time, Mitsubishi is fumbling a potentially great product.

My honest thoughts after spending some time with this set, "Why oh why did Sony kill off their SXRD based XBR projection sets?"

But, the controls looks kinda cheap, on a expensive set you would expect the buttons to be a bit more subtle, instead the engineers look like they just put them wherever they felt like it, also someone at Mitsubishi is drinking too much Saki when they put in large blue Led lights below the set. I have no clue why they thought a TV needed extra lights on it to try and make it cool like an alienware Computer.

My biggest issue is price, at $7000 USD list price, you can get alot of other tvs, all of which are flat panel LCD or plasma, probably with better picture. Isn't the idea for projection sets to be less expensive?

Anyway, it looks like the sets will be in short supply for the meantime, so i guess this is why Mitsubishi believes they can overprice them. My take on this tv. looks great, but definitely way over priced.

For me the sweet spot on this set is $3999 list price. and sale price a lil under that. it's obvious that Mitsubishi does not care about selling too many of these sets as they are completely misjudging the market. Especially when we are in an economic downturn.

So, my take on this set is mitsubishi needs to do revision with a better design.
