"If I had to do it over...I would buy the same television."
Pros: Great picture after a few adjustments from factory settings. I like the looks of the television. I have the 52725 model which has a black speaker cover and the anti-glare screen.
Cons: I think net command could a bit more user friendly and explained better in the user manual. Actually the whole user manual could be improved upon. The speakers could sound better.
Summary: I have had my set for 2 months and have experienced no problems whatsoever. Bought from a local dealer where I buy all of my audio/video equipment. This is the type of purchase that I avoid buying online. Pay a few extra bucks, buy it from a local dealer and have it delivered.
This televison is the final piece in my home theater set up and I am thrilled with it. If anyone owns this set and is not happy with the picture, try the following settings as the picture out of the box is in dire need of adjusting. Go to where you can adjust the seven individual colors and take off of auto color. All seven colors you can adjust use 31 as the factory setting. Back the green down to 28. Leave the other colors at 31. Exit that menu. Access the video settings via the remote control and set the color temperature to low. The contrast right out of the box is maxed out. Back the contrast down to 37. Set the brightness at 43, the sharpness at 35, the color at 27 and leave the tint at 31. Your blacks and whites will be awesome and grey tones will be correct. The colors will be natural.
I pick up local HDTV with a regular antenna mounted in by attic. The picture is fantastic. It looks like a glossy postcard with depth. Digital non HDTV broadcast results in a pretty good picture. I also have cable and the regular analog broadcast does not result in a very good picture, but I have never seen a good analog picture on a big screen and I didn't purchase the television to watch an analog picture. Curious thing about this set, I do not have a cable card, but I also pick up the local stations HDTV broadcast through my cable.
Performance with a DVD player is also outstanding. I own the Samsung HD841 which will upconvert to 720p. The Samsung uses a DVI connection so I had to buy a DVI to HDMI cable. The picture with the DVD player is very close to High Def quality.
As stated above the sound from the televisions speakers is only fair. Should be better for the price of the set. It doesn't matter much to me as I use my AV reveiver (Yamaha RXV2500)and Definitive Technology speakers to provide the sound 95% of the time. The fan noise does exist but I seldom have the volume low enough to hear the fan.
I can see where glare could be a problem in a room with a lot of sunlight but sunlight is always a problem. Either glare or washed out colors or both. You are always going to get your best picture in a dark (movie theater) setting.

Hi, I am very interested in this TV (over the Samsung 50") and had two questions for you. One, if you connect your DVD player to the TV with the HDMI input, how do you connect your cable box to receive HD channels ( I think there is only one HDMI and no DVI connection)? Secondly, have you noticed any rainbow effects from the color wheel that DLP's use on this model? Thanks for your time. I can't wait to go HD ! !
