"1080p HDTV of choice compared to Samsung's HL-R5668 1080p" on by excal1772
Pros: Excellent video quality and easy to use setups.
Cons: The 52" costs about the same as a Samsung 56"
Summary: For weeks I was going back and forth between whether to get the Samsung HL-R5668 or the Mitsubishi 52627 or 52628. From the online specs for each of the TVs, I tended to lean towards the Samsung since the specs were more detailed. I also liked the casing and overall asthetics of the Samsung too. When the TVs finally got into the stores I did a side be side comparison. Both have impressive video quality from an HD broadcast. But the true measure of the performance was to see how they handled a regular broadcast signal. The Mitsubishi HDTV won outright. The Samsung TV was graining and left me very disappointed. The picture on the Mitsubishi was very clear and impressive.
The new stands for the 52627/8 models are also impressive. The TV's sit flush inside of them. Plus, there is more room on the shelving for audio & video equipment than there is on the stand for the Samsung TV.
So if you have to have the bigger TV (which I orginally wanted), get the HL-R5668, you'll be happy with it. If you want to get the TV with the best picture, even though it is slighly smaller (hardly noticable when the TVs are side-by-side), get the Mitsubishi. You will love it. -
"This will be the DLP to own" on by pescado
Pros: Misubishi's commitment to quality, consistently best picture (after tweaking)
Cons: The current models severely push green
Summary: I personally can't wait for this TV to be available. I work for the world's number one electronics retailer, and let me tell you, in the real world (as opposed to the nearly perfect demos manufacturers supply to reviewers), the Mitsubishis are the best-performing DLPs.
Still, as C-Net has already pointed out, the Mitsubishi DLPs tend to push green and require professional calibration to look their best. But once the TV is calibrated, Mitsu's sets outperform every other DLP on our sales floor. I'll be one of the first in line for this set! -
"Mitsubishi 1080P; watching TV will never be the same; not sure if thats good or bad yet." on by low tech guy
Pros: HD Channels are great
Cons: Wathing TV has become more complicated bu this may be partially to our cable provider.
Summary: We have owned this set for 2+ weeks; When we got the HD cable connection the TV remote was useless & we now use the remote for the cable box. THe 15 HD channels we get are great quality; the ananlog channels are poor quality; and the digital are not bad. AFter a while you get use to teh 2 second delay in changing channels but it is hard to get use to the delay and scramble in when changing from a high def channel to an analog or vise versa. I would sum up my thoughts so far to say I like the tv & I am not sorry I bought it. I paid too much at $3,200; but that included set up which I was greatful for. I think my wife dislikes the laborsome chore of flipping through channels. Even though we get lots of channels, I find we only watch a few because it takes so long to page through everything and the flipping from one type of channel to another (digital to HD ect) is very distracting. I think I will get to like the TV more the longer we have it and liek I said some of the problems can be attribtued to my cable box and not the set itself. I am not a gadget person & if you are not you might not be ready for HD TV until mroe channels are available.

"Too many buges on this TV !" on by Geoffreyhu
Pros: Great Color and Brightness
Cons: Too many buges on this TV !!
Summary: I have bought this TV right after the Thanksgiving from Fly's. After I took it home, I found the box already opened. Then, I have to change a non-opened one from the same store. I have to find a professional friends to connect all of the lines, such as DVD, AVR, Cables, etal. Before the X-mas, I tried to view my photos, the card slots do NOT even work, either the SD slot nor the CF slot. Thats not all! The TV programm alway changes, upon when you scan it. It needs a little more work on the software of the TV.
But this TV does have great color and brightness. I will return this TV after the X-mas and get a different brands, such as Sony. -
"bad product and bad customer service" on by deannacox
Pros: nothing pro about this product
Cons: short lamp life
Summary: Purchase in 9/06, after four months of constant use, the tv would turn off for no apperent reason, a technichian replaced the lamp and a switch, then three months later the technichian came again and had to replace the entire control board. Eight months later the lamp went out again. Mitsubishi service has been horable at best. Spend the few extra hundred and buy Sony! I now have a 15 month 52" TV in my family room that is worth nothing!
