  • "beautiful picture and clarity"

Pros natural picture with beautiful picture, 480i upscale done very well compared to others

Cons out of th ebox requires some tweaks to get best picture

Summary I was the first to get one of these in my area and love this TV. I've had/have CRT, LCD and other DLP's and except for the CRT sent them all back before this one. First it is a huge picture so I expected quality to suffer on 480i signals. Was I surprised. The built in upscaler does one of the best jobs in cleaning up a poor picture I have ever seen. It is still 480i so don't expect HD quality but for a screen this size it is pretty good. HD signals are incredible - crisp, clear and color accurate. Overall I have been very pleased. Out of the box does take some tweaking as with many of the new sets they come set up for bright showrooms (set for bright and contrast and sharpness all the way up) but once it is set to normal viewing it looks great. My biggest surprise was the brightness of this DLP - it rivals LCD and black reproduction far surpasses many LCD's I've seen/had. Overall, great TV.

  • "poor support"

    Pros fair picture

    Cons to many to address

Summary This is just note to future buyers of big screen TV’s I did not buy this set but I did buy a Mitsubishi WS-65613 TV on Nov. 26 2004 and it was delivered on Nov 29th 2004; it had problems from day one and finally went out on Nov 28 2005 2 days after the warranty ended. I was told to contact my extended warranty people who I did and now after 7 months it still not working and neither Mitsubishi or the ext. warranty people show any concern as to either repairing it or replacing the defective set. So far it’s had 7 parts replaced and all I can say is buyer beware. If you try to contact Mitsubishi they put you on hold and tell you they will refund the money you spent while on hold. I’ve logged over 400 minutes just on hold and to date they still have not refunded my money. Chose a company that has integrity Mitsubishi is not one of them.

  • "BUYERS BEWARE..."

Pros good picture when it works

Cons very poor tech support - planned obsolescence, 5 minutes...

Summary I bought the WD65100 only 4 years ago. At the time it was considered Mitsubishi’s flagship and cost a whopping $15,000. Three weeks ago it stopped passing any video signal. Mitsubishi tech support, working with our local repair service, was not able to isolate the problem. Mitsubishi also no longer has replacement parts for the suspected problem cards. In addition, the 2 companies in the country that use to rebuild these cards (to the tune of $5,500) are no longer doing rebuilds. Bottom line – only 4 years old and it is on the way to the dump because Mitsubishi no longer supports this flagship. If you insist on buying Mitsubishi be sure to buy and extended service plan. …gotta run, my attorney is calling :(

  • "Great Picture; Distorted Projection, Flaky Firmware"
    on by WWonka65

Pros Stunning Picture; Individual Input Memory

Cons Objectionable Distortion; TV Guide Constant Resets

Summary DO NOT BUY Stunning Picture Quality/Clarity. Projection is distorted; most notable with 4:3 content where vertical lines on side are not straight, but happens on all input. (Mits said cannot be adjusted) All replacement units delivered suffer same distortion. Every other night TV forgets channels/guide (2 CableCARDs did not fix). Sometimes hit remote 2x since it's TV is so slow to respond.
