"Reliability problems and lousy service spoil an otherwise fine product."
Pros: Beautiful picture, nice features when it works
Cons: Poor service network, months long wait for repairs.
Summary: My four-month old, 73" Mitsubishi TV failed five weeks ago, and according to Mitsubishi's "Customer Relations Department", it will take up to additional 6 weeks to get the parts. Add at least one week to get the shop to send someone out and this warranty repair will take at least TWO MONTHS and possibly more than THREE MONTHS to be completed.
I've owned 3 Mitsubishi big screens in the past 8 years. While the picture and features of the sets have been very nice, I've had reliability problems with all three, including this model. Failure of an expensive item like this within the first six months is annoying and inconvenient. Mitsubishi's poor service network and extraordinarily long service times have spoiled this customer's experience completely.
I've had nearly identical service delays with all three sets, starting in 1999. Each set has taken two to three MONTHS to get repaired under warranty after failure. When this kind of problem occurs repeatedly over eight years, one must conclude that this kind of poor service is EXACTLY what Mitsubishi strives for. Very disappointing.

I have 2 Mitsubishi DLP tvs, a 65 inch and a 73 inch, The 2 year old 73 inch has worked perfect, but the 4 year old 65 inch has had problems. I have replaced 3 bulbs in that time in spite of the fact that the TV is only viewed at night. 2 weeks ago the tv went out altogether and the lamp light came on again. I purchased another lamp, but guess what, it isn't the lamp. After 2 weeks of back and forth telephone conversations with Misubishi customer service, I was finally able to get a Mitsubishi service center, but only after the salesman that sold the tv to me intervened. Mitsubishi sent a repairman he was unable to fix the TV at the house and took the color motor module and chassis module to the shop for testing. A week later the repair shop called and said they are ordering the parts, they expect to get them in a week and they will call to schedule an appointment when they arrive. I wish I had read your review before I bought the TV.

I was considering buying this television and your horror story was a major factor in my deciding to buy a Samsung instead. Research shows you are not the only person to suffer poor service from Mitsubishi. I feel your pain and thank you for the warning.
