"Fantastic TV, great picture, good price no problems"
Pros: Great picture in 1080i, DVI & HDMI + 2 component video, super thin, looks great with matching stand
Cons: slow when changing from HD to low-def
Summary: I purchased a warranty when I bought this TV because it was a common complaint that the fan would start making a really loud humming sound, but that hasn't happened to me. I've had no problems with this set and found it to be just as advertised.
I was looking between this unit and the Toshiba online and went to Best Buy to see one in person before purchasing. When I looked at the Samsung and the Toshiba side by side, the Samsung had a better picture. Also, I did hate how the Toshiba had the speakers on the sides. And since the Toshiba didn't have DVI, it was a no brainer.
It's great to have HDMI but there's one problem, nothing else supports it. My cable box doesn't have it, very few DVD players have it, and my receiever certainly doesn't have it. HDMI is supposed to be great because it has digital audio and digital video in one cable...one problem though (what genius invented this garbage)...I want my digital video to go to my TV and my digital audio to go to my receiver. So I'd still have to go HDMI to TV and something else to receiver. Who buys a $2000 TV and uses the TV speakers?
So the DVI is nice to have because it's compatible with more devices and it's getting more common for a TV out from a computer, even though for now I'm just using a regular RCA cable from the computer.
Altogether this is a great unit. I found the best deal at dbuys.com, and they are a reliable seller.
