Upside: The HL-P4674W is more expensive than its counterpart in Samsung's 2004 DLP lineup, the HL-P4663W, because it uses a more advanced DLP chip dubbed the HD2+. The chip has a high native resolution of 1,280x720, which means it should be able to display every pixel of 720p HDTV material. The set's ample connectivity is highlighted by an HDMI port, a DVI port, and two component-video inputs. The HL-P4674W is also designed to accept computer signals via a PC input.
Downside: The HL-P4674W lacks an HDTV tuner and a CableCard slot, so you'll need a set-top box if you want to watch HDTV or digital cable. And as with all DLP TVs, you should be aware that some people may notice rainbow effects.
Outlook: With its higher-end DLP chip, the HL-P4674W should provide slightly better image quality than the 63-series Samsungs, although its higher price will probably make it less popular.
