"Best TV I've owned thus far, and I've owned/own MANY..."
Pros: Bright, Sharp, rainbow-FREE Picture just to begin.
Cons: Remote isn't the best but serious A/V people usually get a good universal anyhow.
Summary: This TV has a beautiful picture - very, very bright and also one of the most uniform pictures/brightness I've seen in a projection, actually near CRT uniformality. Features are great and the price paid was unbeatable. I have 2 decent sized a/v rooms (I'm obsessed) & I also own a 60" SXRD 1080p set in my main room (which I reviewed as well). As far as I'm concerned if I had to do it again I would have saved a bundle and got a Samsung 60" 720p for my other set. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the SXRD set but the technology just isn't out there yet, nor do I see it being for years. And besides the big price difference I've actually noticed VERY few differences. If you watch mostly all 1080 (p or i) programming & have limitless money a 1080p set would be the way to go. However considering 99% of all programming is in either 480i, 480p or 720p there's no choice IMO. Fact is that all 480 & 720 shows look slightly BETTER & sharper on a 720 set since a 1080 set has to add more 'false' lines for fill. 1080 programming look a little better on the 1080 set but in reality not much at all & like I mentioned 1080 programming makes up for very little of USA content & I doubt it will for some time to come, with the exception of PS3. This set also has a very small footprint for a 50" set and is very light at about 70 lbs. Also personally I've seen rainbows on older DLP sets but I've NEVER seen ANY on this one nor has anyone who's viewed it. I understand there is a new improved color wheel which also spins much faster to eliminate rainbows and as far as I'm concerned it does the trick. I usually view this set in a mostly very dark room & sometimes I'm even VERY close to the set & no rainbows ever. I've owned a HD 36" CRT set, a HD 40" CRT, a HD LCD 37", and 3 HD LCD projection sets with 1 at 55" & 2 at 60" & like mentioned I believe this is the best overall set I've owned in regards to quality and price combined.
