"What a great HDTV!"
Pros: The picture is stunning: rich colors and sharp clarity of HDTV programs. Unique styling, easy to hook up and a great picture right out of the box. Lots of inputs and a built in analog tuner.
Cons: Some programs lose definition (become a bit fuzzy around the edges) when the picture is this large. Example: old black-and-white movies on TCM.
Summary: The picture is breathtaking. It has truly turned my living room into a home theater. I had been researching HDTVs for a year. In the end I knew I wanted a Samsung DLP and waited until I could get a decent price on one of the new HLR models. Originally I thought I wanted a Samsung HLR5085W (the unique pedestal model) until I saw the HLR 5667W at Circuit City. My reason for getting the larger set was the difference in screen aspect ratio. With the 56667's taller screen, if you decide to change the picture size format (easy to do with the remote) for old movies or TV shows not in widescreen, you still have a huge display in front of you across the living room. The hardest thing about the setup was assembling the Samsung stand! Or maybe it was disposing of the huge shipping carton. I got a great price at Digital1234.com and the set was in my living room within seven days of placing the order. No hard sell or hassles from Digital1234 at all. BTW, no fan hum, and I have yet to see a rainbow effect.I would strongly suggest adding a home theater system (audio amp with surround sound, speakers and a good DVD), even though the TV's built in speakers are pretty good. With a home theater sound system this TV is amazing. My last word on this set: WOW!
